Hazlehead and Cults Monopolize
Aberdeen Schools’ Championship

Scott Main representing HazleheadAcademy won the Paul Lawrie Aberdeen Schools’ Scratch Trophy at Craibstone today. Five-handicapper, Scott shot a six over par 75, in very wet, testing conditions, to pip Andrew Carrell of CultsAcademy by one shot.

In his round, Scott had two birdies - at the ninth and 16th. But on the debit side he had double bogies sixes at the 8th and 18th and single shots dropped at the sixth, seventh, twelfth and 17th. Andrew was only one over after twelve holes but a double bogey and four bogies in the final six holes meant he had to be satisfied with the runners-up slot for the second successive year.

The Paul Lawrie Girls’ Championship was won by Lauren Watson of St Margaret’s. After a very nervy first four holes the 17-handicapper settled down, eventually beating Rachael Polson of CultsAcademy on the countback.

Six handicapper, Evan Robertson of CultsAcademy lifted the Paul Lawrie Handicap Trophy with a net 70, to beat Hazlehead’s William Mathers and Calum Sutherland by one shot.

There was further success for CultsAcademy when the Paul Lawrie Schools’ Handicap (13 to 24) Trophy was won by Jack Yule with a net 62 off his 18 handicap. The scratch trophy was won by Jamie Hall of Harlaw Academy with a eight over par 77.
