Scottish Hockey and the
Paul Lawrie Foundation
have announced an agreement designed to enhance the U16 and U18 youth talent identification programmes by assisting with the development of individual athletes along the performance pathway.
Scottish Hockey's Performance Manager Callum Mcleod said: "We are delighted to receive this support from the Paul Lawrie Foundation to help support the Scottish Hockey player pathway. This support is vital to ensure our talent identification programme is extended so that every young talented hockey player has the opportunity to be selected to represent their country. Some of the money will also be used to support those districts and their players who have additional expense to compete in the District Championships because of the distances they are required to travel to the event".
The Foundation has also provided additional funding for two members of the Scotland’s Senior Women squad, with each player receiving £500 to assist primarily with travel expenses.
Mcleod added: "I am also delighted that the Paul Lawrie Foundation will support two senior women's international players, Leigh Fawcett and Aimee Clark. Both players live and work in Aberdeen and have additional travel costs to attend training and will incur loss of earnings due to the demands of the international programme".
