Paul Lawrie Foundation v Peterhead BC Phoenix

Cults

Sunday 9 May 2010 K.O. 10.30

Squad: MATTHEW CUMMING, LAURIE CUNNINGHAM, JAMIE GAMMIE, PADDY GAULD, OWEN GRIFFITHS, MICHAEL LAWRIE, CALLUM MORRISON, DANNY NICOL, FRASER PRATT, GAVIN RITCHIE, EWEN TURNER, JOSEPH URQUHART, LEWIS WATSON, JACK WATSON.

This was the final match of the current fixture schedule for the PLF, who were without the services of Callum Morrison and Matt Cumming.

Paddy was called into action early on to deal with a long range Peterhead strike which he held well. A second attack from the visitors was defended well by Lewis and the danger was cleared. PLF took a while to come into the game and were under pressure as Peterhead pressed forward. A throw out into midfield was not picked up and Peterhead pounced, hitting a low strike, which went in off the post for a 0 - 1 lead to the visitors.

PLF had the chance to level the game as they won successive corners but Peterhead defended in depth and cleared. Peterhead almost doubled their advantage as a free kick was chipped in, hit the bar and out for a goal kick. Owen stepped up the pace and was through on goal, only for Peterhead to clear well again. Peterhead were displaying some good control and at a lively pace. A high net bound long range shot from Peterhead was well held by Paddy. Then it was Jamie's turn to have a go and he was unlucky to see his shot go wide after some good close control. A long range strike from Michael was well gathered by the Peterhead keeper, with Jamie lurking to take advantage of any spill. Some good hold up play by Jamie, almost paid off, as Jack took the pass and his strike was again well held by the keeper.

END 1st PERIOD

Peterhead started well again, with some fluent midfield control and passing and a pacey shot from distance went wide of Fraser's left hand post as he dived full stretch. PLF kept driving forward but just couldn't get the breaks. Another Peterhead chance ended with a looping shot going wide of the left hand post. Jack was causing problems throughout the game for the visitors as he twisted and turned all over the place. A long range strike from Laurie was well held. Jamie showed good control again on the right and played in Jack who took a tumble from a hard challenge. Jack recovered within a minute and was unlucky not to score, after a fine turn on the right, resulted with a narrow angled shot going just wide. Jamie then sent in a cross into the goalmouth, only for Peterhead to clear. The ball fell to Michael, who wasted no time in hitting a low shot and with the help of a slight deflection, the ball hit the net to make it 1 - 1.

Peterhead then won successive corners, as Danny denied their forward the chance to get a shot in. From the second set piece, the ball went looping over the bar. Owen then controlled well and laid off to Jamie, who hit a great shot but the visiting keeper saved well. Laurie had another chance from distance but again it was well saved.

END 2nd PERIOD

PLF started really well after the break, with some fine passing and movement off the ball from Gavin, Ewen and Owen. They drove forward and played in Jack who was denied again with a fine save. Some solid defending from Danny again gave Peterhead another chance, as they won a corner and as the ball landed in the middle of the box, they pounced to knock the ball over the line to make it 1 - 2.

Danny then controlled well from a Gavin pass and he set up Joseph who went through on goal, only to see his shot go wide. Laurie and Michael both went close soon after with chances that were saved and just wide respectively. Another shot from Michael was well saved but the ball fell to Jamie and his shot hit the post and just made it over the line to make it 2 - 2.

Jack continued to deceive the Peterhead defence and won a corner. From the cross, Jamie had a shot on target but the ball was blocked then cleared. A long ball out from Paddy was well gathered by Laurie and he hit a fine shot on target, only to be denied again from a great save. Laurie then went on a run down the left and he passed forward to Jamie, who then squared across to Jack. Jack then turned away from a defender and played the ball back in to Danny who calmly swept the ball over the line for PLF to take the lead for the first time in this match, making it 3 - 2.

A last minute surge from Petehead ended with a long ball over the PLF midfield but the resulting shot went wide of the goal.

Dyce v Paul Lawrie Foundation

Webster Park, Kingswells

Sunday 2 May 2010 K.O. 10.30

Squad: MATTHEW CUMMING, LAURIE CUNNINGHAM, JAMIE GAMMIE, PADDY GAULD, OWEN GRIFFITHS, MICHAEL LAWRIE, CALLUM MORRISON, DANNY NICOL, FRASER PRATT, GAVIN RITCHIE, EWEN TURNER, JOSEPH URQUHART, LEWIS WATSON, JACK WATSON.

PLF defended really well in the opening few minutes with Laurie in particular showing great strength at the back. Dyce began to show with their fast, attacking style of play and it was apparent that the PLF would need to be strong and also match their opponents for pace. PLF took the lead early on when Michael controlled well in midfield and with a quick change of feet, played a low pass through the middle. Jamie was first to pounce and stroked a low shot past the advancing home keeper. The Dyce defence raced back to clear it but the ball eventually made it over the line to make it 0 - 1.

Dyce responded soon after with a series of chances, two going wide and Fraser saving low to his left. Dyce were dictating play and PLF were stretched all over the park. Another Dyce effort was dealt well with by Fraser, as he tipped a long range shot onto the bar, which came back into play and Lewis was on hand to clear to safety. Dyce then appeared to be shooting from all areas as they looked for an equaliser.

Jamie almost grabbed a second as he latched on to a slack pass back from Dyce but the keeper saved it. Fraser then pulled off a point blank save following a Dyce attack. Good link up play between Ewen, Jamie and Michael produced a fine, forward passing move, however Dyce denied the PLF from getting a shot in on goal. Another Dyce attack resulted in a shot, which Fraser did extremely well to save again and as he gathered the ball close to himself on the ground, a Dyce striker robbed him of the ball and slotted home to make it a rather undeservedly 1 - 1.

END 1st PERIOD

Both sides made changes for the restart and Dyce kept up the fast pace. The home side won a corner early on and the ball was played out, then swept in to the PLF goalmouth but Jack blocked well, then Paddy gathered safely. Matt and Gavin passed well between them, before being dispossessed, then a good run on the left from Matt was cleared by Dyce for a throw in. A Dyce attack on the right was well blocked by Danny. Another Dyce run on the right was played back into midfield and a looping shot went high over Paddy to make it 2 - 1.

Dyce moved up a gear as they dispossessed the PLF on the right and a well struck shot was saved by Paddy and out for a corner. The outswinging corner was controlled well by Dyce and they hit an unstoppable shot high past Paddy to make it 3 - 1.

The Dyce pressure was relentless at times but Callum dealt well on several occasions to block their advances. Two successive corners to Dyce came to nothing as Paddy cleared from the first cross and saved well from the second. Jack was in form with his tricky footwork to pressurise the Dyce defence and he also linked up well with Gavin. Matt then showed some good skill, evading two defenders but was unable to get a shot on target. Dyce then came back at the PLF and from a run on the right, the ball was squared and a well struck low shot hit the left corner of the net to make it 4 - 1.

Soon after a looping curling cross was well connected by Dyce but the shot went wide of the post. A long ball out of defence from Danny was pounced on by Owen who went on a great run and even with a defender close by, he calmly stroked the ball low and hard beyond the advancing keeper to make it 4 - 2.

Another Dyce attack with some impressive passing, ended with a low shot netbound to make it 5 - 2.

END 2nd PERIOD

PLF made several changes again for the remaining period but from the restart they held back and didn't commit to winning tackles. Fraser was in fine form again with another point blank save from a Dyce attack. Dyce didn't relent and soon scored again with a long range curling shot hitting the net for a 6 - 2 lead.

Both sides then won free kicks. Dyce were first and their shot was well saved by Fraser. PLF'S free kick was taken by Laurie but it went wide of the target. A run on the right from Joseph saw him crossing well into the Dyce goalmouth but they managed to clear the danger. Dyce won another corner and the cross was met with a header and hit the net to extend their lead further to 7 - 2.

Dyce maintained the pressure on the PLF and as they were dispossessed in midfield, the ball was threaded through the middle to a lone striker who controlled and turned to hit a low shot into the net making it 8 - 2.

A final push forward from PLF almost brought a goal, when Michael starting on the left went on a cross field run, came in from the right and hit a hard shot on target, which was well saved by the home keeper.

Cornhill v Paul Lawrie Foundation

Hazlehead

Sunday 18 April 2010 K.O. 10.30

Squad: MATTHEW CUMMING, LAURIE CUNNINGHAM, JAMIE GAMMIE, PADDY GAULD, OWEN GRIFFITHS, MICHAEL LAWRIE, CALLUM MORRISON, DANNY NICOL, FRASER PRATT, GAVIN RITCHIE, EWEN TURNER, JOSEPH URQUHART, LEWIS WATSON, JACK WATSON.

We were without the services of Laurie and Michael today and had to contend with a sloping pitch, facing uphill in this first period.

The PLF had most of the early possession, with Gavin in particular creating problems down the left for the home team. The first direct shot on goal came from Cornhill and Paddy got down well to smother the ball. Callum then played a good pass down the left to Gavin who's strike went wide of the target. PLF were playing well out of defence and a strong run from Owen forced Cornhill into conceding a corner. Cornhill cleared from the set piece. Callum displayed some good defending again and his pass down the left to Gavin resulted in a whipped shot coming off the post. A long clearance from Cornhill saw one of their strikers latch on to the loose ball and with a toe poke netbound shot, Paddy came off his line and blocked well with his feet. Callum again laid off a great ball to Gavin and his strike was well saved. A long range Cornhill shot had Paddy stretched to his left but the ball went wide of the goal. A run from Joseph coming in from the right resulted in his shot hitting the bar and back into play and Cornhill turned the ball out for a corner. Joseph took the corner and it hit the bar again before going over for a goal kick.

END 1st PERIOD

Fraser took over from Paddy in goal and was called into action early on to gather a long range Cornhill strike. From Fraser's clearance, the ball found Jack who played in Jamie and on the turn, Jamie hit a low hard strike past the keeper to make it 0 - 1.

Another long ball out from Fraser was well controlled by Jamie, who set up Joseph, only for his shot to go just past the post. It was Cornhill's turn at the other end as a cross came in from the right and an on target header was saved by Fraser who was well positioned. PLF won a corner soon after and from Joseph's cross, Matt pounced but put the ball wide. Lewis and Callum were under pressure as Cornhill stole in a minute later but again they shot wide of the goal. Another great turn from Owen saw him play in Joseph who saw his shot saved and out for a corner. The corner was cleared but Owen again gathered and turned away from the defence but the keeper saved his shot well. A Cornhill attack looked likely to end with them equalising until Fraser came off his line and dived to his right pulling off a magnificent one handed save to deny the home team again. From the resultant corner PLF cleared. Callum then blocked well from another Cornhill surge forward, then PLF enjoyed a few minutes of possession before forcing a corner. Jack demonstrated good footwork on the left and kept possession, with a series of twists and turns to confuse the home team defence.

END 2nd PERIOD

From the restart PLF were in control again and Jack went on a solo run before delivering a good cross into the middle but the ball was missed by all and went out for a goal kick.  A surge forward out of defence by Callum saw him pick out Owen who ran in on goal only for his shot to be saved. Lewis then picked out Danny who was also unlucky as the Cornhill keeper saved well. PLF won another corner and from Jack's cross, Lewis curled a long range shot just wide. Ewen then went on a long run, on the left up the slope and he delivered a neat cross into the goalmouth but Cornhill again cleared. A final minute low shot strike from Cornhill was saved well by Paddy.

TURRIFF V PAUL LAWRIE FOUNDATION

Duff House, Banff

Sunday 11th April KO 10.30am

Squad:  MATTHEW CUMMING, LAURIE CUNNINGHAM, JAMIE GAMMIE, PADDY GAULD, OWEN GRIFFITHS, MICHAEL LAWRIE, CALLUM MORRISON, DANNY NICOL, FRASER PRATT, GAVIN RITCHIE, EWEN TURNER, JOSEPH URQUHART, LEWIS WATSON, JACK WATSON

Today we made the trek to the grounds of Duff House in Banff to play Turriff and glorious warm sunshine greeted us, providing perfect playing conditions. PLF made a good start with some neat passing and good control and it wasn't long before they took the lead as Callum controlled well and played the ball out right to Joseph. He crossed the ball to Jamie who hit it on the half volley into the top left hand corner of the net to make it 0 - 1.

PLF kept up the pressure on the home side and after some good control and a bit of keepy uppy, Gavin was unlucky as his shot went just over the bar. The visitors went further ahead when Callum played through to Jamie, who laid off to Joseph on the right and his cross was met by Danny who finished off the move with a powerful header to make it 0 - 2.

Turriff immediately came back at PLF from the restart but were thwarted as they advanced through the middle by a great clearance from Callum. The home side got what they wanted a minute later as a midfielder strolled through and hit a shot high into the net to claw back the deficit to 1 - 2.

PLF went on the attack again and won a corner. Joseph played the ball over and Gavin got on the score sheet with a powerful near post header to make it 1 - 3.

The end to end play continued as Turriff broke through the middle again and Paddy pulled off a great save from the well struck shot. Turriff couldn't believe their luck, as another attack culminating in a curling shot from the left, hit the bottom of the post, back into play and the follow up shot was pushed wide. Turriff then won a free kick but their effort was cleared by Lewis for a corner. From the corner Callum and Gavin combined well to clear. Joseph then had a chance as PLF moved forward but was unlucky to see his strike hit the post and cleared by the defence.

END 1st PERIOD

PLF made several changes at the break as normal and maintained a good phase of possession and passing with Michael particularly showing some excellent control. Turriff then took the initiative and control and after a midfield solo run chipped the ball over Fraser to make it 2 - 3.

Again the game flowed both ways as PLF took control, with Matt and Michael passing well between them. PLF won a corner and from the cross, Laurie was denied as his shot was blocked, before Michael followed up only to see his effort deflected out for another corner. Turriff cleared from the 2nd corner. Owen had a chance soon after, latching on to a great ball through from Matt but his well struck shot was saved. Owen then, with his back to goal, laid the ball back to Jack, who floated it in and Danny connected again with his head, as the keeper came off his line, to see the ball bobble over for the visitors to take a 2 - 4 lead.

PLF extended their lead virtually a minute later as Michael controlled well through a ruck of players and played a fine pass to Laurie, who then played in Owen, who set up Danny and despite the efforts of the defence, they were unable to stop his shot from bundling over the line to claim his hatrick making it 2 - 5.

Jack then went on a good run down the left after a great ball laid off to him from Callum. Jack's effort swung across goalward but was deflected out for a corner. Jack whipped in the corner but Turriff cleared the danger. Michael showed some good control and played a one two with Matt before he unleashed a great strike only to see it come off the post and smothered by the home keeper. Turriff stepped it up soon after and pulled another goal back after a solo central midfield run, saw the ball played wide left and after controlling well the forward scored to make it 3 - 5.

PLF came straight back at Turriff with Michael turning on the style with a superb long range strike which went high over the keeper and into the net for a 3 - 6 lead.

A Turriff attack was well defended by Laurie and Callum who cleared it to Jack. Jack then played in Michael and he looked to add to his tally with another long range strike which went just wide of the post. Owen then had a chance but his effort went over the bar.

END 2nd PERIOD

From the restart PLF were in control and Jamie played in Owen, who's shot was deflected and cleared. Gavin then played a neat pass to Michael who played out to Joseph on the right. Joseph ran at the defence and hit a high shot beyond the keeper's right hand to extend the visitor's lead to 3 - 7.

Gavin had a chance soon after but his shot was well defended. Turriff countered but Lewis was on hand to clear to safety. Two corners followed for PLF but Turriff blocked the first and cleared the second. Turriff attacked again and it looked certain they were going to score but Fraser came out of his goal area well and the resultant shot came off the post and out for a goal kick. A long clearance from Gavin then found Jamie, who controlled well to play in Lewis but Turriff cleared as Lewis prepared to pull the trigger. Jamie was denied soon after as his great strike was palmed away by the keeper. It was Turriff's turn again to attack but Fraser was out very quickly to clear the ball.

As the game began to draw to a close, PLF added two further goals to their tally, as Ewen saw his shot come back off the post but Jamie was on hand to calmly hit a low shot into the net for a 3 - 8 lead.

Gavin completed the rout as Matt laid off a great ball to him and with a quick switch of feet, his long range shot went through the keeper's legs and into the net to make the final score 3 - 9.

PAUL LAWRIE FOUNDATION V SHEDDOCKSLEY

Cults, Sunday 28 March KO 10.30

Squad:  MATTHEW CUMMING, LAURIE CUNNINGHAM, JAMIE GAMMIE, PADDY GAULD, OWEN GRIFFITHS, MICHAEL LAWRIE, CALLUM MORRISON, DANNY NICOL, FRASER PRATT, GAVIN RITCHIE, EWEN TURNER, JOSEPH URQUHART, LEWIS WATSON, JACK WATSON

PLF lined up without the services of Gavin and Paddy who were out injured and Matt who was on holiday. A lively start from both sides saw play swinging end to end and it was the visitors who came closest first with a fine effort hitting the bar. PLF needed to take control to assert themselves but went behind after failing to be strong in the tackle and some slack defending resulted in Sheddocksley striking a low shot under Fraser to make it 1 - 0.

PLF then had two successive chances to level the game when Joseph played a cross in from the right, the ball fell back to his feet and his follow up shot was well saved. Jack then played in Jamie, who with a quick switch of feet, struck a great shot only to see the keeper save well. Pressure up front from PLF continued, with Owen forcing the visiting defence into conceding a corner. From the cross Sheddocksley cleared well. Fraser was alert at the other end and as a Sheddocksley striker closed in on goal, he was quick off his line to clear. Owen came close soon after when his shot, following a cross in from Jamie on the right, went just wide. A minute later PLF were level when Michael, after some good control on the left hit a low shot past the advancing keeper to make it 1 -1.

Sheddocksley came back at the home side and after a good build up through the middle, they were about to strike until Laurie blocked really well and punted the ball to safety. It was Ewen's turn to test the Sheddocksley keeper next and after a pass from Michael, his well controlled shot was saved. Joseph then went on a run and past 3 defenders to set up Danny at the right post but the keeper did well to block his strike. Jamie then hit a ball on target but again the keeper saved well.

Long ball clearances from Sheddocksley were being mopped up well at the back by Callum, Laurie and Lewis and this denied them from threatening up front. Lewis had an opportunity to drive forward at the Sheddocksley defence and did well with a long range curling shot which went wide of the post. A midfield run from Jamie found Danny, who's shot was saved point blank, then Jamie had a chance himself to score but the keeper blocked his shot. Jamie went on another run and as as he closed in on the goalmouth, he held the ball up, then played in to Danny who hit a great strike beyond the keeper to make it 2 - 1.

Danny almost grabbed another after latching on to a long ball from Lewis but his shot went wide. Sheddocksley's persistence with the long ball forward paid off when their striker collected and toe poked over the line from close range to level the game at 2 - 2.

Jamie then almost put the home side ahead after Joseph and Michael set him up but he shot wide of the target.

HALF TIME

PLF extended their lead soon after the restart when a throw in to Danny saw him control well and he hit a low shot past the advancing keeper to make it 3 - 2.

Michael hit a long range strike following a lay back from Danny but the ball went wide and he followed up with another long range effort only to see it go wide too. PLF went further ahead when Michael played the ball wide to Jack who twisted and turned the defence then sent the ball goalwards, only for it to take a wicked deflection and end up in the back of the net to make the score 4 - 2. The Sheddocksley keeper was very unlucky to have to pick the ball out of the net on this occasion. The tables turned for a spell as PLF were put under pressure but some solid defending from Callum held them at bay. Successive shots from Danny, after Michael set him up and Jack coming in from the right, after displaying some neat footwork again were thwarted, as the visiting keeper again saved well. PLF scored twice in quick succession after that when Michael played through the middle to Owen who laid on a pass to Danny and he calmly claimed his hatrick with a low shot to make it 5 - 2. Jack then created space for himself on the right with his tricky footwork and played the ball into Danny and with another well hit low strike he claimed his 4th of the match to make it 6 - 2.

It was one way traffic for the remainder of the 2nd half as PLF hit the back of the net another 4 times. Jamie was first with a ball he latched onto in midfield and again with some neat deceptive footwork he struck home for a 7 - 2 lead.

Callum then played a long ball down the left to Joseph who evaded 2 defenders and struck home to make it 8 - 2.

Laurie then held the ball up well before playing through to Jamie. The ball fell to Joseph and he hit it first time into the net making it 9 - 2.

Owen then hit the post after Joseph laid off to him. Laurie almost scored after that following a run through the middle but his shot was well saved. Laurie was involved again as he played through to Joseph who set up Owen and he wasted no time in finishing with a low strike past the keeper to make it 10 - 2.

A last minute effort from Jamie went just wide of the post.

FRASERBURGH LINK-UP V PAUL LAWRIE FOUNDATION

James Ramsay Park, Fraserburgh

Sunday 21 March KO 10.30

Squad:     MATTHEW CUMMING, LAURIE CUNNINGHAM, JAMIE GAMMIE, PADDY GAULD, OWEN GRIFFITHS, MICHAEL LAWRIE, CALLUM MORRISON, DANNY NICOL, FRASER PRATT, GAVIN RITCHIE, EWEN TURNER, JOSEPH URQUHART, LEWIS WATSON, JACK WATSON

PLF were without Paddy for this game who was out injured, so Fraser was in goal for the duration. PLF had possession in the opening minute but it was short lived as Fraserburgh's first move ended with a neat lob in from the left and over Fraser for a 1 - 0 lead. PLF failed to come out of the starting blocks again and fell further behind when again after a build up on the left, a shot came in, Fraser saved but the ball fell in under him to make it 2 - 0. A break on the right with Lewis in control of the ball, played in Matt, who hit an effort low on target but it was saved. PLF just could not get started in the game as Fraserburgh dictated play. The home side won a corner and Ewen cleared, a shot came back in, hit the bar and to the relief of the visiting defence went over for a goal kick. Fraserburgh then went on a run through the middle and the ball was played out to the right, a shot came in which Fraser got down well to block but Fraserburgh netted from the rebound to make it 3 - 0. The agony continued for PLF as they went even further behind soon after the restart when again, a  Fraserburgh build up on the left, finished with a well struck shot, low into the net for a commanding 4 - 0 lead. PLF then had only their second chance of the game so far when after a punt forward from Callum, following some good control, to Ewen, the ball was laid off to Matt, who played in Danny who's effort went wide of the post. Fraserburgh came back again with a long range strike over the bar. The home sides passing was immense and another well hit shot was netbound until Fraser pulled off a magnificent one handed save low to his left. Fraserburgh continued their onslaught and went nap after some good passing again when a shot went in off the post to make it 5 - 0.

END Ist PERIOD

PLF made several changes for the 2nd period and Jamie was first to threaten with a low, long range shot that was well saved by the home keeper. Fraserburgh carried on as they did in the 1st period and after evading 3 players, their striker hit a great shot just over the bar before

another shot from the home side went just wide of the post. Michael then came close with a strike just wide of the post after a through ball from Laurie. PLF then conceded a corner after some weak defending but from the cross the defence headed clear. Another cross from the right by Fraserburgh was headed well clear by Laurie. Michael and Joseph then linked up well to force the home team into conceding a corner. PLF then won a free kick when the home keeper handled outside the box. Jack swung in a cross and Gavin headed in superbly to make it 5 - 1.

Soon after the restart PLF won another corner and as Joseph's kick came over it was Laurie on hand this time with PLF's second headed goal to make it 5 - 2. Fraserburgh gave away a free kick following a handball, Michael took the shot but the defence stood up well to block the effort. Fraserburgh almost increased their lead soon after but were denied by the post. Joseph then picked up a ball just inside the Fraserburgh half and after a run on the right, passed 3 defenders he hit a low shot with the outside of his foot beyond the keeper to make it 5 - 3. Laurie then hit a long range shot on target forcing the keeper into a magnificent one handed save and out for a corner. Michael and Joseph linked up well again with Joseph hitting wide of the goal.

END 2nd PERIOD

PLF started off well again and gained possession early on. Jamie went agonisingly close with a great shot that hit the bar. Fraserburgh responded well with the early pressure and got rewarded as a shot in from the left hit the bar, bounced on the line and over for a 6 - 3 lead.

Laurie took a knock soon after which held the game up for 2 minutes but he recovered well enough and was insistent on playing on. Jack then produced some excellent footwork on the left and set up Joseph who shot wide. A well worked combination between Ewen and Jamie ended with Jamie also shooting wide. A PLF attack ended with the home keeper spilling a cross but he managed to clear safely. Owen was then denied a chance with a great shot on target resulting in a great save. Owen then set up Ewen but he shot wide. Fraserburgh inflicted more pain on the PLF in the closing minutes as a deflected cross from the right went high into the left hand corner to make the final score 7 - 3.

PAUL LAWRIE FOUNDATION V KEMNAY FC JUVENILE

Cults, Sunday 14 March KO 10.30am

Squad:  MATTHEW CUMMING, LAURIE CUNNINGHAM, JAMIE GAMMIE, PADDY GAULD, OWEN GRIFFITHS, MICHAEL LAWRIE, CALLUM MORRISON, DANNY NICOLL, FRASER PRATT, GAVIN RITCHIE, EWEN TURNER, JOSEPH URQUHART, LEWIS WATSON, JACK WATSON

Today was the first time this season, the PLF were able to play a home game at Cults. We welcomed to the squad Ewen Turner and also had Lewis back from injury. A healthy crowd of 35, saw an entertaining game from both sides and it was Kemnay who had the first chance in the opening minute when they were clean through the middle until Lewis intervened and cleared to safety. It was one way traffic for quite a while after that as PLF had many chances to score but were denied time and again by the excellent form of the Kemnay keeper.

Michael hit a shot just wide of the post following a pass from Jamie. Great footwork from Jack on the left set up Michael again but his shot was saved. Michael then set up Joseph who also saw his shot well saved. There were loud shouts of a goal soon after as Michael hit a raging shot off the bar which bounced down on the line but play was waved on. Jamie then came close after Michael played him in and with a quick switch of feet he hit a low shot just wide. Jamie had another chance soon after but the Kemnay keeper continued his fine form and gathered the shot well.

Kemnay preferred to play the long ball to their lone striker planted up front which kept Lewis and Gavin on their toes throughout this period but they both dealt well with the situation. Gavin then tested the keeper with a long range shot which he saved well. Joseph started a run on the right which resulted in a corner to PLF as his shot was deflected out. Jamie and Jack combined well to set up Michael, who was denied again as the keeper was quick off his line to smother the ball and moments later, Jamie again saw his shot saved.

END 1st PERIOD

PLF had early possession as the game restarted and were rewarded soon after when Lewis played the ball down the line to Joseph who slipped a defender, ran in on goal and stroked the ball past the outstretched keeper's left hand and into the net to make it 1 - 0.

Kemnay then had a chance to level when a cross from the right fell to their striker but as he prepared to pull the trigger, Lewis stepped in and cleared. Kemnay regained possession from the clearance in midfield and a cross from the right bounced in the goalmouth and was tapped over the line by the incoming forward, despite Fraser's brave attempt to gather, to make it 1 - 1.

PLF came straight back at Kemnay and a good link up between Jack, after some impressive footwork and Gavin ended with Gavin striking just wide of the target. A looping shot from Michael was well saved, then Kemnay passed up a great chance to take the lead with an effort that was destined for the back of the net but went wide of the post.

PLF then made wholesale changes to their starting line up as they called upon their strengths in reserve. Danny was the first to make an impact when he had 2 efforts saved at point blank range as the Kemnay keeper continued his fine form. Kemnay then won a free kick and shot wide with the effort but Paddy was well positioned to gather. Laurie was then denied with a fine long range strike which was well saved. PLF found it hard going up front for a spell as Kemnay continued to defend well, however as the period drew to an end they did create several chances. Callum played a ball through to Matt who's great shot was deflected wide and out for a corner. From the set piece, Owen struck on target but his shot was saved. PLF won a corner soon after and the ball was played out to Laurie who hit a great strike just wide of the post. Kemnay again could have taken the lead with a great shot that seemed netbound and as Paddy stretched to save, the ball hit the bar and PLF cleared to safety.

END 2nd PERIOD

PLF took the initiative again and had most of the possession in the opening minutes of the final period. Callum held the line well at the back, pushing forward as PLF attacked and put in some telling blocks at the half way line to deny a Kemnay advance. Kemnay did threaten soon after and a well struck shot was saved by Fraser on the line and Callum cleared to safety. Kemnay struck again but Fraser had the shot covered which went wide of the post. A great link up between Danny and Ewen resulted in a shot from Ewen being blocked in the box. A scramble ensued but Kemnay cleared the ball up the park. Danny then almost scored but his superb shot was stopped by a great save yet again from the Kemnay keeper. PLF kept up the pressure as they went in search of another goal and they got it, as Danny and Ewen again linked up well. Danny played a great ball in to Ewen who calmly struck a low shot beyond the advancing keeper to make it 2 - 1.

ALC Lewis Colts v Paul Lawrie Foundation

Bannatyne Sports Centre

Sunday 7 March 2010

K.O. 10.30

Squad: MATTHEW CUMMING, LAURIE CUNNINGHAM, JAMIE GAMMIE, PADDY GAULD, OWEN GRIFFITHS, MICHAEL LAWRIE, CALLUM MORRISON, DANNY NICOL, FRASER PRATT, GAVIN RITCHIE, JOSEPH URQUHART, LEWIS WATSON, JACK WATSON.

Today there were debuts in the team for Paddy Gauld and Michael Lawrie who were welcomed into the squad at training a few weeks ago. Unfortunately Lewis was unable to play due to injury.

The game got under way on a muddy and bobbly pitch but throughout both teams dealt well with the underfoot conditions.   The home side commanded possession early on but didn't create any chances.

PLF came into the game soon after and won 3 corners in quick succession. The first 2 set pieces were cleared by the Colts defence and the 3rd from Laurie found Matt who's shot on target was well saved.

PLF took the lead soon after when a cross from Laurie into the goalmouth was prodded over the line by Danny to make it 0 - 1.   The Colts had a chance after that to level the match but Michael stepped in to clear for a corner.   Danny then played a great ball through to Owen who's shot was well saved by the Colts keeper.   Some great footwork on the right from Jack was followed by a well timed pass to Danny in the centre who almost grabbed his second of the game with a neat lob that went just over the bar. Matt then slipped a ball through to Danny and he laid it off to Laurie who saw his shot also go over the bar.

The Colts then had a great chance to equalise when after some neat passing, their shot was goalbound but it clipped off the outstretched Fraser and went over the bar.   The Colts had little in the way of chances after that in this period, as Callum stood firm making a series of headed clearances.   PLF extended their lead and again Laurie was the provider. After a long run on the left, he chipped the ball across the goalmouth from the edge of the byline and Danny was on hand to slot home from close range for his second of the match to make it 0 - 2.

END 1st PERIOD

Paddy was called into action early on in goal as the Colts had a chance but he held the ball well.

PLF then won a corner and as the ball came in the Colts struggled to clear. The ball fell to Danny and he was unlucky again as his effort went over the bar. The Colts then pushed forward and won a corner after Matt intercepted. PLF cleared from the corner and then a Colts shot from long range was parried by Paddy and Callum stepped in to clear. The Colts kept pushing forward and played the ball out to the right, then hit a low shot under Paddy to make it 1 - 2.   As in the 1st period, PLF again won 3 successive corners. The first ball in fell to Gavin who's shot was deflected just wide of the post. The 2nd set piece was turned out by the Colts and from the 3rd corner, the Colts cleared the ball upfield.   PLF went further ahead when Joseph collected the ball and went past 2 defenders. He then laid the ball off to Danny who hit a great shot past the Colts keeper to claim his hatrick and make it 1 - 3. Joseph then had a chance when a Colts defender slipped and he was through on the keeper but his shot went wide. Danny went looking to grab another but his shot also went wide after a pass from Joseph.   PLF continued to defend well with Michael and Callum in particular with good man marking and intercepting passes.

END 2nd PERIOD

Both sides had a fair share of the possession during the opening minutes of the 3rd period. PLF won a corner and the Colts cleared the danger. Gavin picked up the loose ball and picked his spot by curling the ball to the keeper's right hand post. The ball was netbound but the keeper managed to stretch and palm the ball away for a corner. Jack took the corner and played in to Gavin who then swept a left foot shot past the post.

Some slack defending from PLF helped the Colts back into the game as the ball was bundled over from a few yards out to make it 2 - 3.   Michael and Joseph then linked up well to set up Owen, who unselfishly squared the ball to Jamie and he coolly finished the move by scoring to make it 2 - 4.   The Colts then went on the attack but Paddy was quick off his line to clear the danger. The Colts then won a corner but Paddy held well.

Jamie then had a chance at the other end after Michael and Owen combined well but the Colts cleared from defence.   The Colts added another soon after when a loose ball wasn't dealt with by PLF and they scored to make it 3 - 4.   Jamie was then played in by Michael but the Colts defence stood firm and cleared before Jamie could get a shot in.   Jamie was unlucky again in the closing minutes of the final period as he showed great control and on the turn he hit a shot with the outside of his right foot, which the keeper saved. The ball came back to Jamie's feet and his follow up shot hit the bar before being cleared by the Colts.

pAUL lAWRIE fOUNDATION V PETERHead

Balmoor, Peterhead - Sunday 14 February 2010 10.30am kick off

Squad: MATTHEW CUMMING, LAURIE CUNNINGHAM, JAMIE GAMMIE, OWEN GRIFFITHS, CALLUM MORRISON, DANNY NICOL, FRASER PRATT, GAVIN RITCHIE, JOSEPH URQUHART, LEWIS WATSON, JACK WATSON.

Today marked the debut for the players of the newly formed Paul Lawrie Foundation Under 11's.

All the players, coaches and parents alike were keen to get a match played, following several weeks of training at the Village Sports Centre on Monday nights, only for their first two fixtures to be postponed due to a snow.

The match took place on the astro turf training ground in the shadow of Peterhead F.C.'s Balmoor Stadium.

A tight pitch with the added bounce from the solid surface, meant we were in for an interesting encounter between both sides.

Fraser was called into action early on with a fine save from a Peterhead strike on the right.

PLF took the lead soon after when Gavin and Jack linked up, to set up Laurie who hit a low shot into the right corner of the net, to make it 0 - 1 to the visitors.

Peterhead leveled soon after when a high ball in from the right was chipped over Fraser, who despite his best efforts couldn't prevent the ball from crossing the line.

Peterhead almost increased their lead when a shot from distance on the right went just wide of the post.

Jack then slipped past two midfield players, then squared the ball to Jamie who's shot went past for a goal kick.

Fraser held a well struck shot from the home side and played the ball out, which found Jamie, who hit a long range shot just wide again.

Joseph went on a run through the middle, played a one two with Owen then hit a shot wide of the target.

Peterhead were quite effective down the right and forced a corner which PLF cleared.

Joseph latched on and played in Owen but the hard surface took the ball away and out for a goal kick.

Owen almost opened his account when, following a great ball from Jamie, his shot went wide.

Slack defending soon after cost PLF when Peterhead stroked the ball home from close range to make it 2 - 1.

END 1st PERIOD

PLF made a lively restart when Lewis played through to Jamie but his shot was blocked. Matt followed up only to see his effort similarly blocked by the Peterhead defence.

PLF were awarded a penalty soon after, following a handball in the Peterhead goalmouth. Jamie stepped up and neatly dispatched into the net, making it 2 - 2.

Danny made good use of the ball down the right and crossed in for Matt who was unlucky to see his shot go wide of the post.

At the other end, Peterhead went close with successive long range strikes but were denied by Fraser who gathered safely.

PLF took the lead again when a cross from Danny, following another run down the right, met Matt who jumped to connect and bundled the ball over for a 3 - 2 lead.

Soon after a shot from Jamie went over the bar, then a great combination between Gavin and Matt in midfield resulted in PLF extending their lead as Matt hit a great strike high over the keeper to make it 4 - 2.

Danny again troubled the Peterhead defence after another run down the right. His resultant shot going just wide.

Peterhead were keen to claw back the deficit and managed just that, as they hit a low shot into the net to make it 4 - 3.

END 2nd PERIOD

As the match restarted, it was too close to decide who would come out on top but PLF took the initiative early on and following some nifty footwork from Jack on the right, he played the ball through to Danny, who wasted no time with a well hit shot past the home keeper to make it 5 - 3.

Callum then picked out Owen with a long pass from the back and he was unlucky to see his effort go wide.

Danny almost grabbed another soon after but his shot was blocked by the defence. The ball fell kindly to Gavin who then blasted home to make it 6 - 3.

It wasn't long before PLF hit the back of the net again when a shot from Owen on the right wasn't dealt with and Danny was on hand to prod the ball over the line for his second goal.

Peterhead didn't give up and might have scored again had it not been for Fraser's reflex. They won a corner and from the cross a low shot was netbound until Fraser pulled off a one handed save. The ball was back in play as Peterhead again hit the ball on target but Fraser blocked the shot, pushing it onto the post, then safely smothering it before Peterhead could pounce.

A great strike from Jack after great footwork again was well held.

Gavin rounded off the victory with another goal for PLF when his initial shot was blocked but rebounded to him and he calmly netted to make the final score Peterhead 3 PLF 8
