Unfortunately, Sam cannot play in the Paul Lawrie Junior Open in September, as he has been selected to play for the Scottish Schools team. Today's event gave the youngsters the chance to see the skills of the young Pro's and will hopefully have inspired them to try to further improve their own game. In addition some of the energy and enthusiasm of the youngsters may have rubbed off on the Pro's! Good luck to all in the Pro's in the tournament.

Scottish Open Coaching Weekend

The Paul Lawrie Programme moved to the shores of Loch Lomond last weekend as, in conjunction with the PGA, we offered free golf lessons to youngsters attending the Scottish Open. Under the guidance of Steve Craig 83 youngsters were given a short lesson which included a video analysis of their swing. In addition hundreds of youngsters could be spotted in the crowds sporting their Paul Lawrie tee shirts and caps. Many of the youngsters were fortunate enough to have their caps signed by Paul when he took time out of his busy playing schedule to visit the coaching sessions on Saturday morning.

In the photo below 2 youngsters from Helensburgh, Dominic Ward and Euan Kirk are shown with Steve.

Paul Lawrie Scottish Schools Championships.

Chris Robb (South Aberdeenshire) lifted the Paul Lawrie Schools Championship at Inchmarlo today after a sudden death play off against Sam Strachan (North Aberdeenshire). Chris made birdie from 5ft on the first play off hole.

In the girls event Kelsey McDonald (Highland) won the girls’ event by five shots from Eilidh Briggs and Jill Meldrum.

In the team events Highland (girls) and Dumfries (boys) lifted the team title.  I walked both courses and I was delighted to see a very high standard of golf at both venues.

Aberdeen Highland Games

The Paul Lawrie Junior Programme set up a mobile driving bay at the Aberdeen Highland Games on Sunday. Steve Craig was present to give the many youngsters who attended a free 10 minute golf lesson. PITCH IN FOR KIDS

Paul Lawrie Junior Golf and childrens charity Children 1st have teamed up together to raise money for children that benefit from both organisations. We have designed a pitch fork, which firstly every golfer should have, and when it is bought the profit from the sale will be split 50/50 between Paul Lawrie Junior Golf and Children 1st. Boxes of 100 are available to buy at £100, or we are encouraging shops, clubs and businesses to place them in a public area where the general public can buy them for the suggested retail price of £1 each. Please support PITCH IN FOR KIDS.
