September 2015
Dunhill Links Championship

This week is one of my favourite weeks of the year , I am again playing with Martin Gilbert from Aberdeen Asset Management which is always a good laugh - there are only 6 pros and 11 amateurs who have played every one of the 15 Dunhill links event so far which Includes Martin and myself , we play at the old course tomorrow then Carnoustie on Friday and Kingsbarns on Saturday

Davy and I walking down the 12th at Carnoustie....lovely picture

w/c 21 September

This week was pretty frustrating as I had a sore back early in the week then my groin and left foot were sore towards the end of the week , it was disappointing having to pull out of the Porsche European open as it was being promoted by my management company 4sports who also promoted our saltire energy PL matchplay , I feel much better now after seeing Lindsay Smart who is our resident Physio at PLGC.  Next week is the Dunhill Links event which I'm very much looking forward to.

Foundation Matchplay & Pro-Am

Foundation Matchplay & Pro am

We were at Newmachar again today for the matchplay finals for boys and girls as well as our pro am for the under 15 stableford kids. Congrats to Shannon McWilliam and Sam Locke who are our 2015 winners of the matchplay. Thanks to all the pros for playing and passing on tips and help to the kids. Thanks to Newmachar GC for hosting us both courses were in really good shape.

Under 15s Pro-Am Winners - Terry Mathieson (Pro), Ross, Liam, Ruari

Congrats to Alex Ritchie who won the under 15 Stableford order of merit with Cameron Munro 2nd and Ross Connon in 3rd

U15s Stableford OOM Top 3 - Alex, Cameron, Ross

PLF Boys & Girls Matchplay

I was over at newmachar GC today to firstly play a few holes with Craig and then to watch some of the boys and girls who are playing in our foundation matchplay this weekend , they were playing the swailend course today with the semi finals and final being played on hawkshill course tomorrow , it was a beautiful day with pretty much no wind and the course in very good condition

Tuesday & Wednesday saw the finale of the Paul Lawrie Golf Centre sponsored Ladies Tartan Tour OOM, as the leading 20 players from the season-long Order of Merit arrived at Deeside for the 36-hole event, alongside the Invitational.  Nastja Banovec, an amateur from Slovenia, studying at Abertay University, shot a final round 67 to leapfrog the Professionals and finish ahead of Laura Murray, who had led the way after an opening (1 under) score of 69.  Great effort!

Paul Lawrie Invitational

This week was our annual Invitational at Deeside , we had 57 pros for the first two rounds then we cut to 28 and ties which came at -1. Paul Mckechnie won with a fantastic three round score of -18 , as always Deeside GC were perfect hosts with the course in fantastic condition Massive thanks to our five sponsors - Aberdeen Asset Management , Saltire energy , Statoil , Simmons & company International and farmfoods , also thank you to all the team at the PGA for another very well run event

Paul Lawrie Invitational - Pro-Am

Pro-Am Day

I played in the pro am yesterday at Deeside for this years PL iivitational , the course is looking fantastic and as always the food and service from everyone at Deeside was top notch.  We have five main sponsors this year - Saltire energy , Aberdeen Asset Aanagement , Simmons & Company International , farmfoods and Statoil , these events can only happen with backing and support from sponsors so a massive thank you to all five. I have decided not to play this week as I have a really big schedule coming up over the next 6 weeks

KLM Dutch Open Round 4

71+1 today to finish -14 and in a tie for tenth , hit it lovely early on then doubled the sixth and 15th holes which were big blows , bit of a disappointment today but overall a lot of positives and back to back top tens is a move in right direction , home tonight then pro am for PL invitational at Deeside tomorrow

KLM Dutch Open Round 3

Thankfully hit it much better off the tee today and holed a few putts to shoot 63-7 to finish -15 and only one shot behind , even though I shot one over yesterday I took confidence from the fact I hit it that poorly and only shot +1. Awesome result at pittodrie today with aberdeen beating Celtic 2-1

KLM Dutch Open Round 2

Really struggled off the tee today only hitting 3 fairways so 71+1 was a decent effort , greens weren't quite so good in the afternoon which is understandable as they're soft. All to play for at the weekend. Great to see Tom Watson make the cut..what a player he has been

KLM Dutch Open Round 1

61-9 this morning which is my lowest ever European tour round. I hit it solid and had 26 putts which is a nice combo , they always say beware of the injured golfer but to be fair resting yesterday did the trick as my back felt good today

KLM Dutch Open

I flew to Amsterdam yesterday morning for this weeks KLM Dutch open at Zandvoort golf and country club , my back was a little stiff in the morning and with flying etc I was not fit enough to play in the afternoon pro am , I again played no golf today (wed) but I did manage to hit a few balls on the range and should be ok for tomorrow, fingers crossed. Davy and I walked a few holes this morning the course is looking superb as always.   Tom watson is playing this week which is awesome and a real good idea by the promoters

6th September

It's been a pretty busy week with some meetings for next years  Saltire Energy PL Matchplay.  Have also hit a lot of balls working on takeaway and slower change over mainly , the green at the house is immaculate just now so have spent loads of time up there this week.  Marian and I were at trump on Friday night for dinner with the Morrisons and the Reids which was good fun as always , we had our final regular Flag event of the season today at PLGC , we had over 40 kids who played in beautiful sunshine all day , well done to all the winners
