Dunhill Links 2RD 71+68=139 (-5)We played at Kingsbarns this morning. I shot 68 -4 and it was probably the best ball striking of the year. I hit 13/14 fairways and 16/18 greens but unfortunately I couldn't take advantage with the putter as the four birdies I made, three of them were two putt birdies and the other one was from 3 feet at the 10th but at least I'm creating the chances. I drove up the road so I could go to Pittrodrie for the Dunfermline game in the evening.
Dunhill Links 1RD 71 (-1)
We played at the Old course today, I hit it really good for the first 12 holes but the putter was very cold. I then struggled a bit but managed to birdie the last hole to shoot 71 -1 which wasn't too bad as it was blowing a bit. We played with young Alistair McDougall who is only 14 years old. He received an invite to play after someone pulled out yesterday. Alistair was at school when he found out he was playing. He did extremely well as it couldn't have been easy for him. Martin and I were 68 as a team so not too bad. We are at Kingsbarns tomorrow.
I played 9 holes at Kingsbarns this morning with Martin, the course is in excellent condition. Then after a bowl of soup I played 9 holes on the Old course which is also in great shape and probably the best I've ever seen it. I met John Huggan again in the evening to do another chapter for my book.
I was at Newmachar golf club today playing in our first pro am for juniors. We paid 9 local pros to play with kids from our stableford order of merit. It went really well and I think all the kids loved it we will certainly have more pro ams in the future. Thanks to all the pros for attending we also had the semi finals and finals of our foundation boys and girls matchplay congrats to Chris Lamb the boys champion and Kimberley Beveridge our girls champion. Many thanks to everyone at newmachar for a great day I thought the course and food were excellent. It was a very good atmosphere for both the finals with quite a few people walking round.
I played at Carnoustie today with Jim McCready and his two sons Calum and Ian who had bought the round of golf for his 80th birthday. It was a lovely bright day but quite breezy. The course was fantastic with the greens rolling pretty quick. They have a new golf centre and halfway at Carnoustie since the last time I played, both are very nice. My thanks to Jim and the boys for a very enjoyable day.
I was down at Gleneagles today playing in a company day for Simmons & Co and their guests. I gave a 30 minute short game clinic then played three holes with each group. We finished off with dinner and a Q & A in the hotel. It was good fun even though it was a pretty tough day with a very strong breeze blowing.
I was down playing at Loch Lomond with Bruce Ferguson and Alan Reid from Hunting. We left the house early and drove down, after a quick bacon roll and a few balls on the range we teed off at 11.30am. The course was a little wet but in magnificient condition. I used a belly putter today and putter really nicely so I might put it in the bag for the Dunhill Links.

KLM Open 4RD 71+68+68+68= 275 (-5)
There was another one hour delay this morning after last night's storm. The green staff have done a brilliant job this week getting the course playable......well done lads. I played nicely today to shoot 68 -2 and finished -5 and in a tie for 16th which is pretty good considering I hit it awful quite a bit this week but there are no pictures on the scorecard.
I just missed the 3.25pm flight home from Amsterdam so now I have to wait for the 9.30pm flight. I have two weeks off now, my next event is the Dunhill Links with Martin Gilbert as my amateur partner.
Well done to the GB & I team who won the Walker Cup today at Royal Aberdeen. Our oldest son Craig was carrying a scoreboard in the singles both days which he enjoyed.
KLM Open 3RD 71+68+68= 207 (-3)My ball striking was very poor again today but thankfully my short game was awesome so I managed to shoot 68 -2. I hit most driver shots left and my iron shots fat, not a good combination. I worked it out with 5 holes to play and finished with 3 birdies in a row which is always good.
KLM Open 71+68= 139 (-1)I hit it very poorly this morning so +1 was a decent effort. I hit it much better this afternoon for a 68 to finish -1 overall. My short game has been pretty poor the last three weeks which is odd as it's normally pretty sound. The course played soooooo long, I've never hit so many 3 irons and rescues into par 4s. The greens are also extremely bumpy which is understandable considering the amount of rain that has fallen.
The pro am was delayed by two hours this morning and reduced to ten holes as overnight rain had caused a lot of damage to the course. My team were all from Switzerland and were great company. I hit some balls in the afternoon in between some heavy showers. It's a shame as the course is in excellent condition but is playing very long because of the wet.
European Masters 4RD 69+69+70+71=279 (-5)
The tour teed everyone off earlier than normal today as there was some bad weather forcast. They split the field in two with half teeing off the first and the other half off the tenth. I shot level par, I played good but 34 putts today will never get the job done. I lost count how many good birdie chances slipped by the hole. I bought some hours in a private jet this year from Exec Air Charter Scotland. I was supposed to leave from Sion which is at the bottom of the hill from Crans but because of low fog it left from Geneva so I had a two hour train journey first.
Marian and the boys were at Monifieth today, they were playing for the North East district in a match against Angus and North districts. The team finished second but Craig won the scratch by eight shots and is now playing off scratch.
European Masters 3RD 69+69+70=208 (-5)I shot 70 -1 today but could so easily have been a lot less. I hit it really solid but had 33 putts which makes it tough. I actually putted really good but holed very little. My caddie Davy said to me walking off the 18th that he felt it's been really close this week which I would agree with. I'm now on five under in need of going low tomorrow.
European Masters 2RD 69+69=138 (-4)
I got off to a poor start this morning +2 after four holes. Then I played really good and birdied 6 out of seven holes and got it to -6 for the tournament. However I doubled bogeyed the fifth hole to finish with a 69 for -4 overall but it really should have been a few less (That's what I always say eh?)
Many congratulations again to David Law for winning this week's Aberdeen Asset Management's Northern Open, the first amateur winner since Sandy Pirie in the 1970s ....I believe. Also well done to Philip McLean for another solid week finishing in a tie for 12th. Well done lads, keep up the good work.
