Tues 29th Oct

I got home last night at around 7pm thankfully the strong winds had gone by the time we arrived into Heathrow.   This morning we had a press conference at PLGC as our eldest son Craig has decided to turn professional and will play on the EPD and Europro tours as well as some events in Scotland.  His first event as a pro will be tomorrow's alliance at Ellon.  He is excited at the prospect of playing full time for a living.   Huge thanks to Aberdeen Asset Management , Hunting , M I Swaco and the Paul Lawrie Golf Centre who have came on board with Craig as sponsors as well as Titleist and Oakley.

BMW Masters 4RD

Very frustrating today as missed 7 putts from inside 6 feet most of which were decent putts , I shot 71 -1 which was poor as there no wind and a lot of the tees were left in forward positions so course was playing very easy.   This week has been another case of should have been better which has been happening all year , I fly home tomorrow morning

BMW Masters 3RD

Shot 72 level par today, I hit it much better apart from hitting it in the water at the par 3 sixth to make a double bogey.  I drove it really well which has been a struggle lately , the wind was pretty much the same until the last few holes where it dropped considerably

BMW Masters 2RD

73+1 today which really should have been better as I had 2 double bogies which included a 4 putt from 25 feet but to be fair I holed out very well today.  It was breezy again but not quite so strong as yesterday but still tricky , I'm now lying in a tie for 34th so need a good solid weekend

BMW Masters 1RD

74 +2 today which was actually pretty good as I struggled (badly) with ball striking and my back has been pretty sore and the wind was blowing pretty strong so nae easy really.   I have been doing some extra putting drills this week that I used to do with Adam when he travelled with me which have been good but probably the reason why my back is not the best.  Luke Guthrie shot 65 -7 today which was an incredible score in the conditions

Wed 23rd Oct

Today's pro am was a 12 15pm shotgun but of course I was wide awake at 3 30am so I headed up the the course early to do some more putting drills.   I really struggled with ball striking today mainly due to the sore back I've got this week which has made me back out of a lot of shots trying to save it.   I suppose the extra putting practice hasn't helped but it was time to sort that part of my game ou.  t I play with Shane Lowry and Mikko Illonen tomorrow at 9 20am

Tues 22nd Oct

I arrived into Shanghai yesterday morning and spent most of yesterday chilling out in the room and sleeping as I got no sleep on the plane. Today I went up to course early and spent quite a bit of time on putting green in the morning doing some drills that I used to do with Adam then we played 9 holes.  The course is good and there was a stiff breeze blowing which made some of the holes play pretty long.   I play in the pro am tomorrow at 12 15pm shotgun.

Sat 19th Oct

We popped over to Cove in the morning to see my Mum for a cup of tea.  I flew down to London in the afternoon as I was a guest on the PGA Tour coverage on Sky Sports  with Robert Lee, Andrew Coltart and Simon Holmes which was really good fun.   They also showed the coverage of our invitational from Deeside GC which was very good.  I stayed at the Sofitel Terminal 5 as I fly to Shanghai tomorrow for this weeks BMW Masters.

Fri 18th Oct

I was at Deeside GC today for a Saltire Energy golf day with staff and guests which started with a short game clinic then a putting comp against me ( not a good idea as quite a few got a prize ) then I played 3 holes with each group followed by a bite to eat and a q&a afterwards.   The whole day was well organised by Gary Leslie and was great fun , Saltire Energy have agreed an extension of our association which is great news as they're a fantastic company to work with.

Tues 15th Oct

Marian, Michael and I popped in to see Caroline Hunter for a cup of tea in Glasgow on our way to Loch Lomond....  its two years since Adam passed away, so it was great to see her.   We are at Loch Lomond for a couple of days, we played 11 holes this afternoon then 18 holes Wednesday morning with Michael Macdougall and Craig Dempster.   We also went to the Scotland v Croatia game at Hampden which was really good and ended up a very good two nil win.

Mon 14th Oct

I was in to see Gillian Mitchell in the morning then Marian and I were up in Turriff to see Brian and Eddie Morrison which is always good fun.

Portugal Masters 4RD 69+66+73+68=276 (-8)

Shot 68-3 this morning to finish -8 and in a tie for 38th , hit it pretty much the same as I have done all week and again hit some lovely putts only to see loads of them hit the hole or slip by which is frustrating but at least I'm hitting good putts , I flew with easy jet to Luton then up to Aberdeen arriving home at 9pm , my stats this week sum up my year 3rd in greens in regulation but 60th out of 72 who made the cut for putting , pace of play was again very poor this week which is incredible as their was little or no rough and the course was set up pretty easy only two groups on Saturday played within their allotted time which is a joke But seems to be the norm these days

Portugal Masters 3RD 69+66+73=208 (-5)

73+2 today Tee to green wasn't quite so good but still hit 14 greens , putted beautiful all day but longest putt I holed was from 5 feet at the 5th hole , I went up to the course earlier today to work on the putting especially the rhythm and flow of my stroke which was fantastic today , my left foot was sore today which effects my leg action making them to quick but hit it ok

Portugal Masters 2RD 69+66=135 (-7)

66-5 this morning to be seven under overall is pretty good but should have been a few less as I missed 5 putts inside 10 feet on my back nine.   So funny a guy said to me today after my round "You're right you know about your putting I used to think you were just making it up how many you miss but me and the wife have witnessed it live" ,  lol.   I only hit one poor putt today which is a huge improvement so I feel much more positive than I have for ages.   Beautiful day again and very hot. Didn't sleep well last night as still struggling with chest and cough so back for a kip now.

Portugal Masters 1RD 69 (-2)

I was +2 after seven holes so 69-2 was a pretty good effort especially with quite a bit more breeze in the afternoon.  I putted much better making a slight change with my hands slightly higher and further forward at address which feels ackward but results are better , hopefully we will have calm conditions tomorrow morning.

Wed 9th Oct

I am in sunny Portugal for this weeks Portugal Masters being played at the Victoria Golf Club in the Algarve.  I played with Luis Figo in the pro am today which was good fun as he is really nice guy.  I tried to offer him Derek Mcinnes mobile number but he's happily retired!    The weather is almost perfect with just a little breeze so should be a good week.

Seve Trophy - Day 4

I won my match 2&1 today against Mikko Illonen but overall we lost 15-13 this week, so many congratulations to captain Ole and his team for a very good victory.   The whole event was very good with great spirit between the teams but both teams wanting to win badly.  I flew home tonight,  have tomorrow off then fly to Portugal first thing Tuesday morning.

Seve Trophy - Day 3

Stevie and I were 3 down after 8 holes this morning but managed to fight back to get a half which could easily have been a win as Stevies putt lipped out on 18th green.   Then this afternoon we both played well to win 2&1 against Colsaerts and Gonzo which was a good win against one of their strongest pairs.  The match is now 9-9 overall so perfectly set up for tomorrows singles matches.   I play at number 8 against Mikko Illonen.

Seve Trophy - Day 2

It was a mix of Nico and Gonzo playing well and Stevie and I being poor today as we lost 6&5 , we got behind early and didn't play good enough to get back into it but overall the team won the session 3-2 so are now only one point behind which is better , I hit it poor on the range and sometimes that's a good thing but today wasn't but not much you can do but hold your hand up and congratulate the opposition who both played well ,  Stevie and I play together again tomorrow against the same pair so a chance to get something back.

Seve Trophy - Day 1

Stephen Gallacher and I managed to beat Bjorn and Jimenez this morning by 3&2.   We both played well and was a good win against 2 very experienced campaigners.  I hit the opening shot this morning which was pretty cool.   Stevie did really well and we both had a good time which is important.   We are behind 3.5 - 1.5 after today but there's a long way to go.

Wed 2nd Oct

I played 9 holes this morning with Stephen Gallacher against Marc Warren and Scott Jamieson,  Marc and Scotty scooped the cash bit it was a good game and great fun.

We then had team photos and opening ceremony where the captains introduced us individually and when it came to me Sam said "From scotland....Chippie" which was funny and got a laugh!

We have a Ryder cup dinner with captain McGinlay tonight then Stevie and I play Thomas Bjorn and Miguel Angel Jiminez first off tomorrow.   Cana wait.

Tues 1st Oct - Seve Trophy

It was the pro am today which was a shotgun at 1 pm I played with three very nice French guys who were a good laugh.   I haven't been feeling 100% so I decided to have an early night and hopefully feel better tomorrow I have sore throat with some dizzy spells   Ahhhhhhh

Mon 30th Sept

I was at PLGC this morning for a golf day with Intermoor (my left sleeve sponsor) who sold teams of 3 people to raise funds for Charlie House charity which was very good of them , I hit a shot off the second tee with every group in a beat the pro comp where 4 people hit it inside me.  The whole day was very good and raised 8k for the charity I flew to Paris on Monday evening for this weeks Seve trophy which I'm really looking forward to.
