I got home at 5.30pm yesterday and then managed to cut my foot in the shower after dropping the glass soap dish......clown!   Today I played 14 holes at Deeside with Craig, Michael and their cousin Sean, it was a lovely day so we all enjoyed it.   We had lunch then headed to the Kings Links so the boys could spend their vouchers they won over the summer.   Congrats to Graeme McDowell for winning this week and also to Lee Westwood who will be named world no 1 tomorrow.   Huge achievement from Lee.

Andalucia Masters 2RD 72+79=151 (+9)

It would have to be said that today was not one of my better days.....79 blows is never good.   I was one under after 7 holes having had 4 or 5 good birdie chances.   Then I hit some poor shots making quite a few bogeys and 2 double bogeys.   The course is tough but I played poorly for 11 holes.   I played with Gareth Maybin who played awesome to be -5 for two days.   I fly home tomorrow morning.

Andalucia Masters 1RD 72 (+1)

I was one over 72 today which was actually a good score as I struggled quite a bit especially on the front nine.   I only had 24 putts thankfully, which got me out of trouble.   The course this week is tough to hit fairways and greens so everyone will need to scramble a lot this week.   I have been in the gym a fair bit and I'm currently sweating my fat ass as we speak.
Wednesday 27th October 2010
I went up to the course early to practise as I was not involved in the pro am today.   It was another beautiful day...........24 degrees.   Hopefully last night's late goal will be a springboard for the Dons to kick on the rest of the season.   George Graham came over to say hello today....nice guy.   I play at 9.20am tomorrow morning.
Tuesday 26th October 2010
I played a practise round this morning with Al Forsyth (Al took the money)   The course is in fantastic condition but it is still the most frustrating course in the world to play as trees over hang fairways and greens.   You have to hit it in a certain position on pretty much every hole...which is a challenge.   The place is special though!!   I'm looking forward to the week.
Monday 25th October 2010
I went up to the course this morning with Al Forsyth to hit a few balls and do some putting.   As ever Valderamma is in immaculate condition and looks the same as the last time we played here a few years ago.   Huge congrats to young Matteo Manaserro for his win last week.   Quite incredible to think he's only 17 years of age.....amazing performance.   I went to the gym for an hour this afternoon and I'm now watching a few dvd's.

Castello 4RD 64+70+72+73=279 (-5)

I played lovely today but finished +4 for the last four holes which is a pity as there were a lot of postitives again this week but I just can't seem to score when I hit it good.   I've had so many birdie chances the last three days but just can't convert them.   I fly to Malaga tonight for next weeks event at Valderamma.

Castello 3RD 64+70+72=206 (-7)

I played pretty good today but missed too many putts, I finished with a 72 to be -7 for the tournament with one round to go.   I could easily have been 4 or 5 shots less today but hopefully I'll have a good day tomorrow.   Good win for the Dons today though, well done lads.

Castello 2RD 64+70=134 (-8)

It was a bit of a struggle on my front nine today (+2) but I managed to stay patient and shot 3 under on the back nine to be -8 overall.   I didn't hole quite so many putts but still putted nicely.   I am just one behind the leader Peter Hedblom.

Castello 1RD 64 (-7)

I clipped it round the links in 64 blows this morning which is nice, real nice.   I putted really well with only 23 putts and was 100% scrambles which will always mean you shoot low.   I hit it solidly but it was the short game that did the damage.   The greens are rolling really well and quick.   It's nice to see Sergio Garcia and Jose Maria Olazabal back playing, long may it continue.

Wednesday 20th October 2010

I played the pro am this morning, it was a beautiful day with no wind.   The course is in awesome condition with the greens rolling quite fast.   I am playing at 9.05am tomorrow morning with Al Forsyth.

I was very sorry to hear that Ron Menzies had passed away last night.   Ron was a big part of the North East golf scene and he will be sorely missed.

Portugal Masters 67+69+72+69=277 (-11)

Sorry for the lack of blog entries last week but Marian was with me in Portugal and she types them up for me.   I had finished second two years ago at the Victoria course so it's always nice to go back to somewhere you've played well in the past.   Marian and boys were with me which I always really like.   The weather was fantastic all week which was nice after the wind and cold of the Dunhill Links.   My team won the pro am so the week got off to a great start.   I played pretty good all week especially on Saturday where I hit 17 greens.   The greens were soft which always makes scoring low, it's a good course but quite short so soft greens doesn't help.   I finished 27th which is not what I'm after but there were loads of positives to take from the week especially the ball striking which was very good.   We flew home privately, direct from Faro to Aberdeen as we have workmen from Laings Bathrooms in for the next three weeks.
Monday 11th October 2010
I was in to see Gillian Mitchell today as my neck and back are still bothering me.   I took Michael to his lesson with Billy Fyfe at Aspire then the boys and I had lunch and 9 holes at Deeside.
Sunday 10th October 2010

Dunhill Links 4RD 71+72+72+69=284 (-4)

I shot 69 today on the Old Course and Martin and I were 65 best ball which meant I finished 22nd and as a team we were 10th.   I always really enjoy the Dunhill Links and I know Martin does.
Saturday 9th October 2010

Dunhill Links 3RD 71+72+72=215 (-1)

We were at Kingsbarns today, I shot level par 72 again to be -1 overall.   I played ok today but didn't hole anything and also made a double bogey at the 15th which is a really tough par 3.   Our team score is -17 which should mean Martin makes the cut which is great for him.   I'm lying mid forties so I need a low one tomorrow.

Friday 8th October 2010

Dunhill Links 2RD 71+72=143 (-1)

It was horrible today, cold, wet and windy so not the day to be playing Carnoustie but that's where I was so I just had to get on with it.   I played awful but thankfully putted very, very well....only using the putter 26 times.   I finished by bogeying my final two holes which was a pity as 2 under today would have been a great score.   However level was a great effort considering the way I hit it.   Martin played good again and we are 14 under as a team.

Dunhill Links 1RD 71 (-1)

I had to go to the physio truck this morning as my sore neck from last week came back again.   They gave me a bit of a rub and some pain killers.   It was pretty sore all day but I did well to get it round in 71.   I actually hit it pretty good but not as good as Martin Gilbert, my partner, he was making birdies all over the place.   Our team score was 62 -10 which was a great effort.   We play Carnoustie tomorrow.
Wednesday 6th October 2010

I played a few holes at both Kingsbarns and the Old Course today.   All three are in very good condition.   I hit loads of balls at St Andrews Bay range late this afternoon.   I'm looking forward to getting back to playing.

Tuesday 5th October 2010
I played Carnoustie today, the course as always is in awesome condition   I hit some balls on the range at St Andrews with Adam.   We have put the gloves back under my arms as the backswing was getting a bit upright again.   I also had some interviews for press and TV.   I am now on Twitter...paullawrie99 so please follow my tweets.   I will play 9 holes on Kingsbarns and the Old Course tomorrow.
Monday 4th October 2010

I flew home from Bristol this morning.  I really enjoyed my week with the Sky team at Celtic Manor, it was my first time doing any's a lot harder than it looks.   What a fantastic win for the European team.  Yet again the Ryder Cup lived up to all the hype....great golf, great fans and a huge win for European golf.   Well done to everyone involved.

Sunday 3rd October 2010
Another very long day for everyone at Celtic Manor.   We got to the course at 5.30am but as you know play didn't start till 1.30pm so we hung out in the crew room most of the day.   My commentary was a bit better today I thought, I much prefer when there's only two commentators in the box.   It was a fantastic day for the European team winning 5 and a half points out of six available.   It's going to be very very exciting tomorrow.
Saturday 2nd October 2010

Just back to my room at 7.15pm after another long day.   I got the 5am bus this morning but I'm not complaining as I am absolutely loving being part of the Sky team this week.   I said 'golf shot' too much in commentary today which was disappointing as it's not something I say normally but it's nae easy I can assure you.   Fantastic effort by Monty's team later on today with every match ahead.   Come on Europe.

Congratulations to Andrew Carrell (scratch) and George Colleran (handicap) for winning my Foundation Junior Jug Finals today at Newmachar, two fantastic scores boys as I heard the weather had been poor.   Many thanks to Newmachar for hosting us.   Sorry I couldn't be there......but some of us have to work!!!

Friday 1st October 2010
I started off in the commentary booth first thing this morning (new underwear required) but I think even Bruce and Ewen were a little nervous which shows you the size of the Ryder Cup.   I was asked to go into the studio because of the rain delay where I ended up for most of the day.   Then I finished off in the commentary booth with Bruce and Ewen again, these guys make it seem really easy (which it's not)   So my first day in TV I thought went pretty well.   I prefer the studio to commentary but I enjoyed the experience all the same.
