I hit some awful shots on my front nine today to be out in +3 but thankfully hit it lovely on back nine to shoot -4 to finish with 71 for three under overall , it was a beautiful morning with hardly a breath of wind so scoring will be quite low , I hit a few balls when I finished and am now back to hotel for a wee kip
I played lovely today to shoot 70 -2 which could have been a few better as I hit a good shot on 17 but it flew over the green into water to make double bogey. It's a pity but that's golf eh? It was a little windy in the afternoon so two under was ok, hopefully it will be calmer in the morning.
I arrived into Sweden on Monday night late then spent all day up at the course on Tuesday working on a few things specifically standing closer to the ball and slowing down my changeover. It was a little breezy on Tuesday so I only played 6 or 7 holes I played the pro am at 7 30am this morning with 3 Swedish guys who were very nice and a good laugh. The course is very nice with lots of water in play and quite long and is in fantastic condition especially the greens.
At the airport on Monday night a guy came up to me and said "I see you have Paul Lawries logo on your clothes, do you know him, he's always been a favourite of mine?" Priceless !!!
I flew down to London last night as I was playing at Dukes Meadow par 3 course today in the Zone Golf Charity Shoot out. Myself and former England cricket captain Andrew Strauss played against Ian Poulter and Sir Steve Redgrave in the morning which we lost. Then we played Justin Rose and Tim Henman in the afternoon which we again lost but I still won 50k for PL Foundation which is fantastic. The whole day was great fun and raised a lot if money for charity so well done to everyone involved. I hit it awful all day so thankfully I'm going to Sweden tonight so I can work on it all day tomorrow.
I shot 72 today to finish +3 overall which looks like missing the cut by one shot which is incredible as the weather was awful again so +2 is pretty low cut in those conditions.
We will fly back to Aberdeen in the morning then have a few days before I head to Sweden.
I played with Tim Henman, Alan Hanson and Paul Davies in pro am yesterday which was good fun, Henman was impressive and made quite a few birdies.
Today I shot +3 which was disappointing but it could have been worse as I drove it awful but managed to birdie 16 and 18. It was cold and windy so pretty tough conditions.
I played at Muirfield on Thursday in a Nikon golf day where I gave a clinic on the range then played a few holes with each group. All the grandstands are already up for the open so it had a nice feel about it.
I had a few meeting at PLGC on Friday then we played 9 holes and had supper in Turriff with the Morrisons and the Reids which was great fun apart from the weather which was freezing.
We popped over to see my mum in Cove on Saturday morning then went to Pittodrie to see Aberdeen draw with Hearts in the afternoon it was a decent game and finished 1-1
I played at Castle Stuart with Craig, Davy Kenny and Foundation manager Michael MacDougall which was great fun. Michael and I eventually won on the 18th after being 3 down with 5 to play ( collapse or what ) We met Christian Macleod in the evening for a bite to eat at the Keppoch which was excellent, we are staying at Culloden House which is very nice indeed.
I was at PLGC early this morning to hit some balls before our first Foundation flag event of the year, we had nearly 40 kids in total. It was a nice day but a bit chilly. As ever the scoring was very competitive between the kids but great fun We had the prize giving in the new Circles coffee shop which was busy all day. Huge thanks to all the parents for bringing the kids along.
I left the house at 5am to drive down to Lanark to watch Craig play his second round of the Scottish Youths Championship. It was a very tough day with a strong wind and some heavy showers. Craig hit it very good but putted poorly to shoot 76 but comfortably make the cut which is all good experience for him On the 9th tee Craig's brolley flew away over two fields so I headed off to fetch it..... wading through mud and cow **** but there was a electric fence so I decided not to bother as its only a brolley, I thought!. But when I went back to tell Craig and offer him my brolley he said "but all my gloves are in it to save them getting wet" so off I set again. As I was climbing the electric fence my foot slipped and I got a nasty shock which was not good and unbelievably the same happened on the way back, so two shocks off the fence!! When I got back to the tee I said to Craig "I just got two electric shocks there" He looked at me with his hand out and said "where's my gloves!!!!!!" Unbelievable eh?
In the evening Marian and I were at Malmaison for dinner with Brian & Audrey Morrison. Colin & Wendy Fraser and Alan & Val Reid which was very nice indeed and it was wee Alan's turn to pay happy days.
It has been a busy week so far with two rounds of golf at Deeside and some meetings in between. I have also been to see Gillian Mitchell for my fortnightly crunch and tomorrow I'm driving down to Lanark to watch Craig play his second round of Scottish Youths Championship. He shot 71 in first round and is lying joint 5th. I have been at PLGC quite a bit this week helping out as the refurbishments are taking shape and we will be open on Saturday morning. Huge thanks to all the staff for their tremendous efforts over last few days.
I hit it really good and putted awful. I shot 72 and will finish just outside the top ten. Until today the putting has felt better so I feel we're on the right track. My flight home is tomorrow morning which I'm really looking forward to.
There was a lot more wind today so 70 was a good score and I jumped us up a wee bit. I putted better which is positive news at last and I also have driven it very good this week.
72 today which was very poor as there was no wind....mind you it doesn't help when you have a four putt.....again !!
I shot 69 -3 which was a good effort in the afternoon as the wind got up quite a bit. We were over 5 hours again to get round today which is far far too long as the time limit for a 3 ball this week is 4 hours 30 mins.
I played the pro am this morning at 8.20 with three Chinese gentlemen one of whom was a famous actor apparently when I asked him on the 2nd hole are you filming just now he said. "No" rather angrily and stormed off in opposite direction so that was the chat with him finished for the day Typical celeb eh The course is very good this week and quite hard and dry so is playing pretty fast I stayed at the club for a while to do some extra putting, let's hope it pays off this week.
