I was at the show all 3 days with our Cardinal Apparel brand, it was really busy and great to see so many people visit our stand. We had some 2016 collection on at sale prices as well as the new 2017 collection, which looks great. I opened the show on Friday morning by cutting the ribbon then hitting a plastic ball into the hall which was good fun. I hadn't been to the show for years and was very impressed with how good it was. I had a go at all the activities every day as well as Q&As each day with Alan Tait. I hope everyone who attended enjoyed it and massive thanks if you came onto our stand for pic/autograph or purchase.
For the last few weeks, Monday night has been target golf night at Inchmarlo. Teams of four get 10 balls each at 3 targets, at different distances, filled with sand, then 3 balls at the water target to finish off. We all then go upstairs for a snack which is picked by the previous week's winners. It's great fun and the banter flows , our team is called Redbirds and we managed to win last night.
Craig and I played in the Sunningdale Foursomes this week, we flew down on Sunday morning with our Michael who caddied for me and Michael Macdougall who caddied for Craig. We played practice round on Sunday afternoon on the old and on Monday round the new course. We eventually lost in the fourth round by 1 hole to Linn grant and Martha Lewis , even though we were giving away 10 shots we had chances to win. I didnt drive it too well and the new course is tough to play from the heather, mind you we were round in level par which in the foursomes format (and was also a bit windy and cold) wasn't too bad but the girls did really well. We both really enjoyed the week as was the first time either of us had played the event before.
It was dry but pretty windy on Wednesday at Duff House for the Alliance. I shot 69 (+1) which finished 3rd behind Hutch (67) and our Craig who won with a very good 66 (-2). I hit it ok but struggled on the greens missing quite a few very short putts which is unlike me. The course was decent and always nice to play there as I think it's one of our best venues up here.
I played with Craig as well as my brother and nephew at Fraserburgh on Wednesday. It was a pretty nice day but a wee bit chilly. I hit it nice to shoot 65-5 which won with Sean 66 and Craig 67 , it's always good to play at Fraserburgh which is one of my favourite courses in the north east
I was down in Edinburgh last week at the corn exchange to attend the Scottish golf awards , I was presenting the Adam hunter award which was won by Hazel Macgarvie who had a fantastic 2016. I received the Inspiration award - which was presented by Steven Gallacher & Craig Brown - which was very nice of them to give me but as you can imagine there's so many people who work very hard to make me look good especially my wife Marian and foundation manager Michael Macdougall. It was also great to see Jock Mcvicar and Belle Robertson receive the lifetime achievment awards as both have had tremendous careers in golf. Huge congrats to all the award winners on the night
