I was down at Monifeith on Tuesday with Craig and one of his mates for a practice round for the Scottish boys next week. The course was in good shape for this time of the year I walked round with Craig today at Duff House Royal in the second round of the Alliance Championship, he hit it good but putted like me to shoot 69 to finish third overall which was good and great experience for him even though he was disappointed which is also good.
We had some meetings at PLGC on Thursday with the builder and carpet supplier then Marian and I headed to Glasgow firstly to see Caroline Hunter and the girls for a cup of tea..............it was great to see them all. On Thursday night we were at the Sportsmans dinner at the Hilton where I did a q&a on stage with Jeff Stelling from Sky Sports in front of nearly 700 (bricking it). Then it was off to Inverness for the weekend to attend a wedding at Achnagairn House which was fantastic fun. All the best to Lyn & Chris and thanks for having us.
Marian and I were at Parkhead on Saturday with Alan and Val Reid. Awful start by losing a goal after 15 seconds but then Aberdeen played some nice stuff to lead 3-1 with 25 mins to go which you would assume would be enough to take all 3 points but Celtic scored three goals one of which was deflected so it finished 4-3 to them which was so disappointing but as an Aberdeen fan you get used to that lately. Josh Magines played very well and played up front so maybe he's not a right back, goalie or midfielder. We stayed at the Hilton overnight and even with the result we all had a great time.
Marian and I popped into PLGC on way home to see how the builders are getting on, it's starting to take shape.
I got home on Monday afternoon which felt good as three weeks away is a long trip, mind you the snow was a bit of a shock!! I saw Gillian Mitchell on Tuesday morning as I've been struggling a bit with my neck and back but the cruncher will sort me out.
Renovations are well under way at PLGC so roll on two months from now when it will all be finished. Marian and I popped down to Pittodrie to collect my Scottish Golfer of the Year award that Craig Brown picked up for me.
There was a little more wind today which made it tricky. I hit it good and was four under standing on the last tee but unfortunatly made a double bogey six (again) which meant I shot 70 -2 to finish at +5 for the week and in a tie for 58th which is disappointing but it is what it is. I fly home tonight with british airways which will be nice as I've been away for three weeks.
I teed off by myself at 8 30am this morning as there are 65 players this week. I hit it really good but again struggled with the putter to shoot 72. I was round in 2h 30mins which was a nice change to the usual 4+ hours we normally have to put up with. I spent a wee while on the chalk line again on the putting green which feels good just need to take it to the course.
Hit it nice and putted pretty good today but too many balls in the water meant I shot 73 +1 to be seven over total and propping up the field in last place.
78 +6 blows today no complaints hit it awful and putted poorly. No excuses as it was a lovely day for scoring with just a wee breeze. Hit the new driver awful so will need to mess around with it before tomorrow.
I played the front nine on my own this morning then hit some balls and had a nice chat with Bob Rotella who I work with when I play in America. I was also presented with a sterling silver belt buckle from Odyssey for my win at the Johnnie Walker last year which you get when you win an event using one of their putters. Then a nice relaxing afternoon before it all starts tomorrow.
I played 9 holes this morning with Chris Wood as I wanted my new putting coach to see me on the course as Phil also works with Chris so it was ideal. I feel the putting is slightly better but it's been hard going as I developed a slight loop in my stroke which takes a while to get rid of. The course this week is in fantastic condition especially the greens. Donald trump came over to say hello on the range this afternoon which was the first time I had met him
I cracked my driver on the first tee at the matchplay so I have been testing new ones this week with the R1 looking likely to go in the bag.
I flew from Houston to Miami yesterday for next weeks Cadillac Championship at Doral. When I arrived the lady courtesy car driver got to the exit and couldn't find the ticket as you can imagine she was in a complete state and must have apoligised 50 times..... what a shame so she had to fill out a form it was no big deal but she was embarrassed. So to make her feel better I told my followers on twitter.........luckily for her I don't have many mates. I plan to have relaxing day today maybe go to the mall then play tomorrow with Stevie G who flies in tonight.
Huge thanks to everyone who voted for me for Scottish Golfer of the Year..... its a huge honour for me and all the people who have helped me over the years especially Marian, Adam and Stewart Spence they have been unbelievable for me.
I was back at the Fazio course at Carlton Woods yesterday to play with Dennis Proctor and Rob Davie from Hunting as well as Jim Tosh from Chevron and my wee pal Alan Reid. Alan and I scooped the cash. It was a little cooler but still perfect for golf again the course was magnificent especially the greens. I head off to Miami today for next weeks WGC event at Doral.
