I went to Pine Lodge to hit balls this morning before popping into Alehousewells Primary School to see the completed 'Paul Lawrie Project'.   The children gave a presentation of their work which was excellent, they had also researched the different countries I visit.   They all had drawn a picture of me, as well as designing and drawing a 9 hole course.   Well done to all the children, your efforts were brilliant.   Thanks to Mrs Denning for inviting me along.   Marian and I had some lunch at Deeside before heading into town to collect the boys from school.   I had an appointment with Gillian Mitchell for my fortnightly crunch in the evening.
Tuesday 29th March 2011
After dropping the boys at school I called Talksport Radio for an interview about last week's win.   It's always good fun to talk to Alan Brazil and Ronni Arani.   I then headed down to Deeside to hit a few balls and have lunch.   I had meetings in the afternoon with Harvey Smith (h-events) and Iain Powell (Foundation manager) before heading into town to collect the boys.   Craig and I played 9 holes at Deeside before tea.    We opened a bottle of wine that I bought after my Wales Open win which I was keeping for my next win.  (9 years of dust on it)   Marian, myself and her parents all had a large glass to celebrate.

I missed by original flight last night at 7.25pm so Fairway put me on the Aer Lingus flight at 9.50pm.   The flight took off an hour late so it was nearly 1am until I got to the Sofitel Hotel at Gatwick.   I had a quick shower and then went online for a wee while to read my stats etc.   Huge congrats to Martin Laird for his big win at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.   My flight to Aberdeen is at 9.25am, can't wait to get home.

Andalucian Open 4RD 66+67+65+70=268 (-12)

Well the wait is over!!   It's been 9 long years without a win but finally it's here.   I got off to a horrible start by bogeying three of the first four holes but I managed to stay calm.   I knew I was swinging well so just had to be patient.   I can not explain how good it feels.........yee ha!!   I also get into the World Matchplay in a few weeks which is awesome.   I fly to Gatwick tonight then up the road in the morning.   I can't wait to get home to see Marian and the boys.   Huge thanks to everyone for their messages, I really appreciate the support.   Also thanks to Davy Kenny, my new caddie who was superb all week........first win of many pal.

Andalucian Open 3RD 66+67+65=198 (-12)

I had another good today 65 to be -12 overall and leading by one.   I played pretty much the same, giving myself loads of chances for birdies.   I got a very lucky break at the par 3 13th when my pulled tee shot rebounded off a spectator onto the green and I just lipped out for birdie.   I gave the guy two balls as one wasn't really enough for the size of break I got.   Kenny Ferrie had shot 60 before we even teed off which was a fantastic effort.   The wind was a little stronger in the afternoon so my score was a good effort.

Andalucian Open 2RD 66+67=133 (-7)

Today was pretty much the same as yesterday, I hit a lot of good shots and plenty of fairways.   I shot 67 -3 to be seven under overall which is in a good position for the weekend.   I made a couple of good up and downs to keep the round going and then birdied the 18th.

Andalucian Open 1RD 66 (-4)

I teed off from the 10th at 8.40am this morning.   I played good, making 4 birdies and no bogeys to shoot 66 -4.   It was a really nice day again with little or no wind.   The greens this week are very good and pretty quick.   I had a quick bite to eat in the players lounge which is great this week thanks to Miguel Angel Jimenez.   Then I went down to the range to hit a few before retiring to my room to watch a DVD....Criminal Minds.
Wednesday 23rd March 2011

I didn't tee off until 1.30pm in the pro am today so I had a nice long lie.   I spent some time chipping and putting before I teed off.   It was a lovely day which was not forecast.   Stevie Gallacher and I ate in the hotel straight after I finished as I was straving.

Our new Foundation website went live today and it looks great.   My thanks to Hampton Associates and Iain Powell for all their hard work.

Tuesday 22nd March 2011

I arrived in Malaga yesterday at 2pm after a three hour flight from Rome.   I had a quick shower then headed out to putt for a couple of hours, then had room service and an early night (getting old is no fun)

Today it was extremely windy so I spent most of my time chipping and putting.   I was in and out of Titleist and Callaway vans looking for a new weapon (putter) to have a go with.   We are staying on site again this week which is handy.   The forecast for tomorrow is pretty poor which is a shame as pro am day is a huge part of any event.

Sicilian Open 4RD 72+68+73+72=285 (+1)

I shot 72 +1 today to finish one over for the week.   We had a delay for lightening when I was on the 12th fairway which lasted for a couple of hours.   When we went back out I made a double bogey 7....lovely!!   Today was very similar to the rest of the week, I played solid but had far too many putts.   I fly to Rome tonight and then onto Malaga tomorrow morning.   The leaders will have to come back on Monday morning to finish the tournament.

Saturday 19th March 2011

Sicilian Open 3RD 72+68+73=213 (LVL)

I shot 73 +2 today, I played good but had 34 putts.   I didn't putt poorly but again just couldn't get it in.   It was a really nice day with just a wee breeze blowing.   I didn't hit so many fairways but was never more than the semi rough.
Friday 18th March 2011

Sicilian Open 2RD 72+68=140 (-2)

I shot 68 -3 this morning with three birdies and no bogeys.   I hit a lot of fairways and greens but holed nothing.   The longest putt I holed was a 6 footer on the 14th.   I certainly didn't putt poorly but just didn't hole any, I struggled to get the ball to the hole.   The greens are slow as high winds were forecast.   I hit balls and I'm now back in my room watching a DVD.   My playing partner Richard Green bent his putter on our first hole meaning he couldn't use it (been there, done that) it didn't affect him as he made 6 birdies putting with his gap wedge.

Huge congratulations to Philip McLean and David Law at this week's Northern Amateur Open in South Africa.   Philip reached the semi finals and David won the event.   Well done lads good work.

Sicilian Open 1RD 72 (+1)

It was a much nicer day with little or no wind.   I shot 72 +1, the greens were a bit bumpy in the afternoon so holing putts was tough.   I hit it pretty good so could have been a few shots less but I was three over after 11 holes so I suppose +1 was ok.   I don't think there has been many tournaments in this area before as a  little boy picked up my ball at the 11th and a guy picked up Soren Hansen's ball at the 18th.
Wednesday 16th March 2011

I played the pro am this morning 10am shotgun.   It was extremely windy all day so scoring was very tough.   My groin was much better today but I still made sure to swing it softer and slower to protect it.   I am going down to see the physio again later.   I will have the live commentary of Aberdeen v St Mirren game on my phone later.   Great win for Sir Alex and Man Utd last night.

Tuesday 15th March 2011
I only played 9 holes today as my left groin has been playing up, I have been doing a lot of work at home with the basketball between my legs hitting balls and with the flights and bus journey yesterday it was not good today.   I went to see the tour physio in the afternoon and will go back tomorrow to see if I can play the pro am.   Right now swinging is difficult but hopefully if I stretch enough tonight it will be ok.   I played the back nine which was nice, the greens were good and a nice speed.    I popped into the Titleist/Footjoy truck to pick out some new shoes as I have signed with them for ball, shoe, glove this year.
Monday 14th March 2011
I am in Sicilly this week playing at the Donnafugata Golf Resort and Spa.   I left Aberdeen at 7am on flybe to Gatwick and then onto BA to Sicilly then a 2 hour coach trip to the hotel.   The hotel is on site and is very nice.   Appartently the courses were both designed by Gary Player so I'm looking forward to getting out there.
Sunday 13th March 2011
I was up at Cruden Bay today as Criag and Michael were invited up by the North East officials for a get together of the best under 16's in the area.   Frank Coutts gave the boys a short talk before they teed off about his adventures as an amateur which was very good.   They decided to only play 9 holes as it was very cold and wet.   After a bite to eat I gave a short talk and a Q & A.   The whole day was well organised, my thanks to David Rennie and Alan Joss for all their efforts.   I saw Gillian Mitchell for my weekly crunch on the way home.........fingers crossed my neck and back have been good for a few weeks now.   I fly to Sicilly first thing tomorrow morning.
Saturday 12th March 2011
I hit balls at Deeside this morning with the boys, we had planned to play but the course was closed because of the snow.   We were over at my Mother's in Cove for lunch and I got her to look out some photographs for my autobiography.   Marian was wetting herself at some of them!!   We watched the first half of the Aberdeen game with her then headed home for the second half.   Aberdeen were extremely lucky to get away with a draw but I fancy our chances now at Pittodrie.   I nipped back down to Deeside to hit more balls before the Man Utd game.
Friday 11th March 2011
I have spent the last two days hitting balls at Deeside working on my leg action, I hit shots with a basketball between my legs at address and then drop it during my backswing which feels strong.  I popped into the Marcliffe for a coffee and a catch up with Stewart Spence which I always enjoy.
Wednesday 9th March 2011
I played in the North East Alliance today at Duff House Royal with Alan Reid and Peter Smith.   It was my first Alliance outing for years and I really enjoyed it apart from the 5th and 6th holes where it pelted with snow.   I shot 68 which I was happy with as I haven't played much golf and only been hitting balls.   We stopped in Turriff on the way back for a chipper supper.....ah the good old days of Alliance golf!!   Well done to Scott Larkin, his 65 was a very good score today.   Also well done to my nephew Sean who also shot 68....good score pal.
Tuesday 8th March 2011
I hit balls at Deeside again today working on my leg action which is showing signs of improvement.   Last night Alan Reid and I were at Tannadice for the Aberdeen v Dundee United game which was awful ending in a 3-1 defeat.   I read in this morning's paper that Craig Brown said it was the worst performance since he took over.   Never mind...big game on Saturday down in Paisley.
Friday 4th March 2011
The last two days I have hit lots of balls and played a few holes at Deeside working on rhythm and making sure the takeaway is nice and slow and all the speed is at impact.   I have also managed to do some short game work at home.
Tuesday 1st March 2011
We played at Santana Golf & Country Club this morning which was a nice layout near La Cala.   On the first tee the starter said to keep valuables in our pockets as they have trouble with people hiding in the bushes then jumping out and robbing stuff from golf bags.   So I played with my wallet in my pocket and my watch on my wrist which was the first time I have ever done that.   The course was very nice but unfortunately it was blowing a gale which spoilt it a bit.   We will watch Man U v Chelsea tonight then we fly home tomorrow.   It has been very enjoyable and good fun with the boys.   Pity Michael and Marian couldn't come.
