Dubai 3RD

The second round was eventually completed early this afternoon, the cut coming at one under par. I started my third round off the 10th tee at 2.50pm which meant we were never going to get finished. The hooter went at 6pm while I was on the 3rd green. I am currently two under for the day and three under for the tournament. I was four under but I have just hit snap hooks off the first and third tees and made bogeys at both. I hit the ball really good but those hooks have just killed the momentum I had. We have to be back in position at 7.30am tomorrow to restart our third round. This has been one of the longest weeks ever with a lot of fog delays.

Dubai 2RD 68+75=143 (-1)

I finished my first round this morning, I played beautifully to shoot 68 four under par without really holing a thing. We had a 40 minute break then it was straight back out for our second round. I teed off at the 10th and hit it straight right...20 yards out of bounds and made double bogey. It was the only poor shot I hit for the two rounds. I eventually finished with a 75 to be on -1 for the tournament, which looks likely to be the cut. There are still some players to tee off so anything can happen.

Dubai 1RD

We had a 2hr 40min delay this morning because of fog. I eventually teed off at 3.30pm before we were stopped for bad light. I am currently on the 10th with a 30 foot putt for eagle. I hit the ball really well especially the new driver, which is about 10 to 15 yards longer than my old one. I restart my round at 7.35am tomorrow morning.

I played in the shotgun pro am this morning with three Irish lads. They were nice guys and we had a good laugh. I hit some balls then we had a committee meeting where we decided that Colin Montgomerie would be our Ryder Cup captain in 2010 at Celtic Manor. I wish Colin and who ever he picks as his back room staff all the very best. I think he will be an awesome captain for Europe. I will do everything I can to qualify as a playing member of his team.

played nine holes this morning with Alistair Forsyth.....I was glad to see I wasn't the only one who had put on a few pounds over the winter! The course hasn't changed at all from last year but the greens aren't great, they're quite slow and way to soft. I got a new Taylor Made r9 driver this morning, you can change the lie, loft and open or close the face which is very clever. You can also change the shaft, all with the turn of a key. I hit it really well and it should be going straight in the bag this week. I have changed management company, I am now with 4sports & Entertainment. The golf side is run by Marcus Day who used to look after me at IMG. I also have a new bag and front of hat sponsor, Michel Jordi (Watchmaker) so with my love of watches, it's a match made in heaven. That's quite a lot of news for you all today!

Qatar 4RD 72+71+72+70=285 (-3)

It was a bit of a mixed bag today but overall I shot 70 to finish 3 under for the tournament. Scoring should be better today with less wind. This week I struggled a bit more with ball striking than last week but I still missed so many birdie putts. I fly to Dubai tonight and will have a day off tomorrow....probably at the mall. The Dons are on a really good run at the moment and got a good point yesterday against Rangers!

Qatar 3RD 72+71+72=215 (-1)

I was very poor mentally today. It has been building up over the last few weeks, I feel I'm giving myself so many chances but I'm not converting them. I know a poor attitude doesn't help but it has always been a bit of a problem for me. I finished with 72 today which was very good in the end as I was 3 over for the day with 3 holes to play....I eagled the 16th and birdied the 18th.

Qatar 2RD 72+71=143 (-1)

I was two over for the tournament after 8 holes today, so to finish one under was a decent effort, but I missed so many birdie chances it was laughable. I seemed to miss from 10 feet on every green. The cut is looking likely to be level par so a good weekend is required from yours truly!

Qatar 1RD 72 (LVL)

Level par 72 today, I teed off from the 10th and made a birdie four and then had loads of chances the rest of the back nine....which I didn't take. I could easily have been four under to the turn but was only one. I came back in one over par which was about right. Overall I struggled today, I didn't hit the ball very well so level par wasnt' really that bad. This week the Qatar Masters has the best ever field with 23 of the top 50 in the world playing.
Wednesday 21st January 2009
I played at 7.40am in the pro am, there was no wind and the temperature was in the mid 20s....perfect weather for golf. After a quick bite of lunch I spent a fair bit of time on the chipping and putting green. The facilities at all three events in the Middle East are really good and perfect for working on your game. I play at 7.55 am tomorrow off the 10th tee.
Tuesday 20th January 2009
I played the front nine early this morning, the course is in fabulous condition. The greens are firm and slick and the rough is thick in places. I still can't believe how good scoring was last week. I shot 12 under and finished 20th.....the standard now is just so high!
Monday 19th January 2009
I flew to Qatar this morning. It holds very special memories for me after my win here in 1999. I dropped my luggage then headed to the mall to watch a movie. I also went to the gym as I have pilled on a lot of weight. What a great result for the Dons yesterday, I was totally gutted I missed it, but someone has to work.

Abu Dhabi 4RD 73+70+68+65=276 (-12)

I was 65 today but amazingly my ball striking wasn't as good today but I putted awesome, apart from a 3 putt at the 14th. I pretty much holed everything I looked at. It was a very nice end to the week as I felt that before today I had played much better than my score. I'm hoping to watch the Aberdeen v Celtic game on television tonight then I travel to Qatar tomorrow morning.

Abu Dhabi 3RD 73+70+68=211 (-5)

I was 68 today and played very good and I also managed to hole a few putts but I could easily have been five shots less. My tee to green play has really improved over the last two years. If I could putt like I used to, I would be winning! All the best to the Dons tomorrow.

Abu Dhabi 2RD 73+70=143 (-1)

Due to my delayed tee time I just managed to get my second round finished. I holed out on the 17th and ran to the 18th tee. I played really good today and putted awful. How many times in the last two years have I said that! I putted great last week but this week I have really struggled. I finished on -1 which is tight for the cut, there are still some players to finish off tomorrow morning.

Abu Dhabi 1RD 73 (+1)

Incredible as it may seem but we were delayed this morning because of thunder and hale stones. I played good from tee to green but struggled with the putter. I hit a lot of very good putts but holed very little. I went to the putting green afterwards and holed lots of short putts to get some confidence. Due to the delay the afternoon players did not finish their round so my tee time tomorrow will be slightly delayed. Good win for the Dons on Tuesday night!!
Wednesday 14th January 2009
I played 9 holes on Tuesday morning, the course is a little wet but it's in very good condition and playing a little longer than I remember because of overnight rain. I played the pro am this morning, one of my partners was a Kilmarnock fan so I gave hm some stick after the Dons won 2 1 last night. They were all nice lads and we had a good laugh. I tee off tomorrow at 8am with Robert Allenby and my partner from last week Soren Hansen
Monday 12th January 2009
I had a very quite night last night, just watched the tv and had room service. I still can't believe that four of our team won no points at all....amazing. I have just arrived in Abu Dhabi for the Middle East swing. Last week was the first time ever that I didn't feel rusty, it must have been all the golf I played with the boys at the Jebel Ali over Christmas and New Year. I might go to the mall this afternoon to watch a movie.

Royal Trophy Singles - Europe 6 Asia 10

Not the overall result we were looking for but well done to Captain Ozaki and his Asian team. I played really good today and was about 5 under when my match ended on the 16th green. Our Captain, Jose Marie was fantastic and I felt sorry for him at the end but it wasn't his fault, he could not have done more. I have really enjoyed the week apart from the result.

Royal Trophy Fourballs - Europe 1.5 Asia 6.5

Soren and I halved our match but it was another disappointing day for the European team. We had a fantastic tussle with the two Japenese boys, all four of us played pretty good. Soren played much better than I did today but again we combined well as a team. We need to win all the single games tomorrow to win the match which is a very big ask but it can be done. Captain Olazabal said the Asian team putted very well today, so as always in golf...he who putts the best, normally wins.

Royal Trophy Foursomes - Europe 1 Asia 3

Soren and I played well together to beat the two Japanese boys by 2 and 1 but unfortunately it was a bad day for the rest of the European team. We trail 3points to 1 point after the first day. I really enjoyed it, Soren is a great guy and there was a big crowd watching. We are both playing together again tomorrow.....first off at 11.05am Europe need a good day to get back into it.
Thursday 8th January 2009
We were all introduced at the press conference yesterday and the media had the chance to ask us questions. At the gala dinner both teams sat together and it was all over by 9.30pm. Today was the pro am, I played with the ladies and mens club champions and also the owners son who was only eleven but he did really well. This event is much bigger than I thought, especially as the Asian team have the home advantage.
Wednesday 7th January 2009
We had a team meeting last night with Captain Olazabal to discuss team pairings etc. I played the back nine today with Soren Hansen. The course is a fantastic layout and it's in really good condition. Tha fairways are quite narrow and the rough is thick in patches. We have a press conference at 3pm, then the gala dinner later on tonight.
Tuesday 6th January 2009
I flew Thai Airways last night at 9.30pm to Bangkok for this weeks Royal Trophy. I arrived in my room to find shirts, trousers, hats and a golf bag all ready for this week. It's very similar to what happens at the Ryder Cup. A tailor also arrived to fit me for my team suit. I am very much looking forward to the should be great fun!

Happy New Year !

We got back yesterday from our holiday in Dubai, we were there for 13 days and again we stayed at the Jebel Ali Golf Resort and Spa. The weather was fantastic and we all had a great time. The boys and I played a lot of golf which was good as my season starts this week. I also celebrated my 40th birthday while we were away. Amazing though it seems but I am looking forward to my 40s. I still feel I have so much left to achieve with my golf and my Foundation.
