I was up north watching Aberdeen lose 3-1 to Inverness on Monday evening , it was a combination of Aberdeen being poor and Inverness to be fair were decent , it was really cold but both alan Reid and I enjoyed it all the same , Craig and I flew to Manchester on Friday to see putting coach phil Kenyon at formby hall , I have seen phil before but it was Craig's first time , he gave us both some stuff to work on which we will do over the next few weeks , his indoor putting studio is really cool and will pop down to see him from time to time , marian and I were at the Marcliffe for dinner last night with the reids and the morrisons which was really good and as always the food excellent , the builders are making good progress at PLGC and we hope to have the driving range open soon but the golf course might be a while yet
This Week I have been busy tackling something that has been bugging me for ages , my right foot has been to high at impact for ages and when my timing is out I get the club behind me and have to use my hands to much , so I have hit loads of balls rolling foot instead of it lifting which also helps my hands be lower at impact
I was up in Turriff yesterday opening the deveron salmon fishing season , we were piped down to the river bank then I had a quick swig of deveron distillery 18yo whisky then threw the rest in #tightlines , it was good fun and really good of them to ask me to do it , I hope all the fishers have a really good season
I went up to the Emirates on sat and sun mornings to practice , then spent the afternoons by the pool , I worked on lowering my hands at Impact which is something I've worked on before and tends to creep back now and then , we took a boat cruise around the palm on Sunday afternoon which was great fun and very interesting to see it from a different angle , we flew home yesterday morning and went straight to PLGC to see how the rebuild is getting on
Level par 72 today to be +1 overall , hit it really poorly on my front nine but thankfully short game sharp , then hit some really nice shots on my back nine but missed the world on the greens , ball striking this week has been awful club felt really quick off the ball
Shot 73+1 this afternoon which was a decent effort as I only hit 9 greens , I drove it really well but my iron play was very poor which is unusual , there was a bit more wind in the afternoon than the morning but it was still a pretty nice day , Emirates GC is in fantastic condition and always a pleasure to play
I played at Saadiyat island yesterday with Saltire Energy staff and customers which was as always a great day , I gave a short game clinic in the morning then we all hit balls and I played 3 holes with each group then had a bite to eat ,course was immaculate and with just a wee breeze the weather was perfect , thanks to everyone at Saadiyat for looking after us.
