I played at Lochinvar golf club today in a Hunting golf day with staff and customers. I gave short game clinic in the morning then played a few holes with each group in the afternoon. I played lovely again and putted decent, it was pretty breezy but nice and warm.
I played at Carlton Woods Fazio course today in a Pentagon Freight golf day. I gave a clinic in the morning then I played 3 holes with each group then did a q&a during dinner. The whole day was great fun and very well organised. I putted nicely so it was good to see all the work paying off at last.
I played 18 holes today with George Booth and Les Watson from Pentagon at Carlton Woods. We played the Nicklaus course which is very nice. I played off +5 and managed to scoop all the cash. I popped into golfsmith golf store which is comfortably the best golf shop I've been in. One guy said to me. "Hey are you Paul Lowry?"...
I flew from Tuscon to Houston on Friday morning. I have 2 company days here next week one for Pentagon Freight and the other for Hunting so decided to fly in earlier as I hate hanging around a tournament site when you're no longer part of the event. I spent today at Carlton Woods which is really nice.
My back was bad again this morning but Stevie Gallacher gave me some tablets which eased it enough to play. I hit it really good but again the putter was awful with only 1 single putt all day and that was from 3 feet at the fourth which makes it impossible at this level. I will keep working hard with it and hopefully will be better soon. Scott Piercy beat me 4&3............. good luck to him the rest of the week.
The weather forecast was bang on for today as they said it would snow around lunchtime which it did. Play was suspended an hour before I was due to play then cancelled around 1pm for the day. Quite incredible to see snow in the desert.
I had a much better sleep last night but my back hasn't improved much but I should be ok for tomorrow. I played 9 holes today with Stephen Gallacher and managed to take 50 bucks off him as we had a matchplay game over the back nine. I have a new putter which I'm going to use this week which is an Odyssey #7 in a black finish. The greens were a little slower today as they had been watered quite a bit. I play against Scott Piercy tomorrow at 11 55am.
I played 9 holes early this morning with Stephen Gallacher. The course is in magnificent condition especially the greens. The course is firm and fast which will make it tricky to get the ball close as some of the greens have some slopes in them. My back is pretty sore so I decided 9 holes and a little chipping and putting would be enough today. I plan to do the same tomorrow.
I flew out to the Accenture matchplay a day early as I had a Wilson staff commercial to film today which was great fun. I was pretty nervous before I did my first line but the crew were all really nice and were patient with me which was good of them. Its amazing the detail and time these things take to film. I also tested some new Wilson equipment which included the new adjustable woods and new irons which are all really nice looking and feel great.
I was out at Kemnay Golf Club yesterday to open their new 18th hole and to receive honorary membership from the club which was very nice of them as Kemnay was where I started to play as a youngster. I had some books with me which I signed for the members who turned up.
I also received an award from Aberdeenshire Sports Council to celebrate my play last year which was great of them.
I popped into PLGC on way home to run over some things with Graeme Webster on our new short game area which is going to be awesome and I got a shot of the digger which was cool.
I hit balls this morning at PLGC which was pretty cold but after a few you warm up quickly. Marian and i were then at Pittodrie for the game against St Mirren which was very poor with no entertainment I went round the pitch at half time with the Ryder Cup which was good fun. I got a fantastic reception from all sections around the ground which was very much appreciated. I also went round some of the corporate lounges before the game
Marian and I were then at her close friend Heather and Tim Dougalls for dinner which was very nice and a fun evening.
I had a photoshoot and interview for Golf World today at PLGC which was done by John Huggan and yes he mentioned the Hibs game more than once
I was at the AECC today for Maritime Developments where I took along the Claret Jug for pictures with their guests. They also gave me a donation to my Foundation which was very good of them
I was down at Easter Road with Alan Reid and John Huggan for the Scottish cup game between Aberdeen and Hibs which was a frustrating defeat for the Dons along with some gloating from Huggan!!!
I had my fortnightly crunch from Gillian Mitchell at 12pm then I had a photo shoot with Christian Macleod for his belt range which are really smart and for sale at PLGC
