We played at Valderama today which the boys absolutely loved.   As ever it was in fantastic condition, it was quite windy which made it tricky.   The journey there was a bit of an adventure as the driver kept talking and asking me questions in Spanish.   I kept saying 'I speak no Spanish'  but bless him he kept trying then half way there his car lost most it's power so on the uphill bits we were going 10mph.....nightmare!   Huge thanks to Derek Brown (General Manager) for looking after us so well.   We are currently in the taxi heading back.   Craig made no birdies so has to jump into the pool.   I am so pleased I birdied the 9th.
Sunday 27th February 2011
We had a tee off time at 8.20am this morning so as you can imagine getting Craig and Sean up at 7am was eventful.   We had a good morning with all of us playing nicely.   The courses are hilly but in good condition.   After lunch we decided to hit balls at the David Leadbetter academy instead of playing again.   Craig and Sean went for a quick swim (apparently the water is freezing)   We will be watching the Carling Cup Final tonight, cheering on Big Eck's Brimingham.   We are playing at Valderama tomorrow which the boys will love.

Last night Marian and I took a table at the 'Befriend a Child' dinner at Ardoe.   We were joined by our friends Alan & Val Reid, Brian & Audrey Morrison and Wully & Barbara Donald, we all had a great time as always.

My alarm was set for 2.30am (Ouch) as I am flying from Glasgow at 7.30am bound for Malaga for a few days of golf and practise with Craig and my nephew Sean.   We are staying at La Cala.

Another full day working on the book with Derek (I was fast asleep at 8.30 last night)   He has flown back home this afternoon but it will need another good few days.   I have really enjoyed the last four days and Derek has been great to work with.   I can't wait to see the finished article.

In the evening Marian and I were guests of Sir Moir & Lady Lockhead at the First Group Dinner Dance.   It was a great night with good food, entertainment and excellent company.

Wednesday 23rd February 2011
I dropped the boys at school then picked up Derek from the Marcliffe, we pretty much spent all day at thome working on the book.   I wouldn't have believed how tiring it is talking for 8 hours a's been good though!
Tuesday 22nd February 2011
I dropped the boys at school and then picked up Derek from the Marcliffe to continue our work on my autobiography.   I dropped Derek back at the Marcliffe on my way to a meeting in town at 2.30am.   After the meeting Craig and I played 10 holes at Deeside.   In the evening Marian and I went to Pittodrie for the Hamilton game, we were guests of Morrison Motors in the Richard Donald stand (Thanks lads.....very nice)   The food was very good as was the first half of the football.   The second half was nae so good but still a good 3 points.   The away support must have all come in the same car as there was....let's say nae many there!
Monday 21st February 2011
I was at the airport early this morning to pick up Derek Cements.   Derek is spending the next four days with me as he is writing my autobiography which is due out late November.   We spent all day talking about the Open, Ryder Cup etc.   I've wanted to do a book for a while so it's exciting.   I dropped Derek at the Marcliffe late afternoon then hit some balls at home.
Sunday 20th February 2011
Marian called this morning while I was hitting balls to say there was an article in the Sunday Telegraph with the headline saying 'I lost my Open winnings on shares'  which is absolutely ridiculous as we bought Brackenhill with my Open winnings.   The picture they used was of Peter Lawrie not me..............the whole article is very very poor!!
Saturday 19th February 2011
I didn't get home until 2am yesterday morning so I had a long lie then Marian and I went to Pittodrie to watch Aberdeen v Kilmarnock which finished 5 - 0 to Aberdeen.   It was a very good performance in blustery conditions.
Friday 18th February 2011

After breakfast I went to Mearns Castle Golf Centre to hit a couple of hundred balls and do some short game practise.   I then popped in to see Adam at home, Caroline made my favourite lunch (sausage softie)...thanks Caroline.   I then went back to the Crowne Plaza for a media discussion on the state of Scottish Golf before the SGU dinner.    Monty and I both received Lifetime Achievements awards at the dinner.   Alastair Forsyth presented me with mine after they played tributes from Philip McLean, David Law, Stevie Gallacher and Sir Alex Ferguson (kleenex required)   It was extremely nice of them all to take the time.   As I said to everyone at the dinner, there are so many people behind the scenes who have made the Foundation what it is, so a huge thanks to everyone.   It was a great honour to receive the award, so many thanks to everyone at the Scottish Golf Union.   I drove home after the dinner with Stewart Spence and Iain Powell.

After dropping the boys at school I had an appointment with Gillian Mitchell.   I then headed to Edinburgh Castle for the media launch of Team Scottish Hydro.   They have selected 5 pros to sponsor on the Challenge Tour which is fantastic news.  I then drove through to Glasgow where I am staying tonight for tomorrow's SGU dinner at the Crowne Plaza.   I hit balls in the evening at World of Golf which is very nice.
Wednesday 16th February 2011
I have been in bed really early and up early due to jet lag.    I have managed to hit some balls which has gone really well.   I have been working mainly on my leg aciton.   Marian and I were at the football last night which was very disappointing to be fair, the game looked like a draw until Paul Hartley had a moment of madness.   It was a horrible night which didn't help.

Dubai 2RD 75+73=148 (+4)

I teed off at 7.50am this morning from the 10th tee.   I played nicely on the back nine to be out in -3 and back to level par overall.   On the front nine I had several chance for birdies which slipped past the hole then I made two double bogeys over the last four holes to finish +4 for the tournament.   It really is a fine line between missing and making cuts.   Overall I hit it good today and could easily have made it to the weekend but unfortunately it was not to be.   I fly home at 0235am tomorrow morning.

Dubai 1RD 75 (+3)

I had a very poor day with ball striking and attitude so I suppose 75 wasn't as bad as it could have been.   Thankfully my neck was perfect this morning so I can't blame that.   I went straight to the range after as I hit it really poorly so hopefully tomorrow will be better.
Wednesday 9th February 2011
My neck was a little better this morning so after seeing the physio I decided to play the pro am but I only lasted 6 holes before it became pretty uncomfortable during the swing.   The tour got the first reserve out to play in my place (Oliver Wilson)   After seeing the physio again I plan to head back to the room to relax and hope it's ok for tomorrow.
Tuesday 8th February 2011
I woke up this morning with a stiff neck so I went to see the physio's at the course.   They worked on it twice during the course of the day.   It's a little better but I tried to hit balls with no joy.   I will see them again tomorrow morning so hopefully I'll be ok to play the pro am at 7.30am
Monday 7th February 2011

I had a golf day with Pentagon Freight today who are my side of hat sponsors.   They had 64 memebers of staff and customers play at the Earth course here in Dubai.   I gave a clinic in the morning then hit a shot on the par 3 17th hole with every group.   Eight guests hit it inside me (better than my last effort of 19 at a similar day last year..........pat on the back I'd say)   I also did a Q & A after dinner.   The whole day was superb and ran very well.   Thanks to everyone who attended.

Qatar Masters 4RD 74+66+71+74=285 (-3) T19

I had a disappointing 74 blows today, I played nice but had 37 putts which was a pity as today was the best ball striking round of the week but when you putt like that it's impossible to compete.   I finished 19th which is no disaster but I should have been a lot better.   I missed from inside 3 feet four times which is soooooooo frustrating!   It was windy again which made it tough to get close to the hole.   I fly to Dubai at 6pm tonight.
Saturday 5th February 2011

Qatar Masters 3RD 74+66+71=211 (-5)

It was a bit of a frustrating day but not bad.   I finished with a 71 to be -5 for the tournament.   The weather forecast says they'll be a lot of wind tomorrow so anything can still happen.   I hit lots of greens but just couldn't get them close enough.
Friday 4th February 2011

Qatar Masters 2RD 74+66=140 (-4)

I'd a very good day today, shot a 66 to move to -4 for the tournament.   I hit it much better and rolled in quite a few putts which was nice, very nice.   I hit a few balls then headed back to the hotel to relax.   My new caddie Davy Kenny is doing a good job, he's a good lad and a qualified pro which is handy.
Thursday 3rd February 2011

Qatar Masters 1RD 74 (+2)

I hit it poorly today so level par with four to play was a good effort.   Unfortunately I bogeyed two of the last four which was frustrating but overall I didn't deserve any better.   The wind was blowing hard all day so the course was tough and scoring pretty high.
Wednesday 2nd February 2011
I went up early today and spent all morning working away on a few things mainly making sure my take away was nice and slow so I can build up the speed as I swing.   I play at 12pm tomorrow with James Kingston and Ritchie Ramsay..........looking forward to it!
Tuesday 1st February 2011
I played the course today, there is a bit more rough which is very thick in places but it's in fantastic condition with the greens quite firm and rolling fast.   I watched the Aberdeen v Celtic game in the evening.   Pity about the sending off as it spoilt the game a bit.   I think it was a penalty but the red card was harsh.
