JWC 4RD 67+69+73+69=278 (-10) 3T

I shot 69 today to finish ten under and in third position.   I felt I was very unlucky today and yesterday but third is a good week so I'm reasonably pleased.   My ball striking was good again this week just like last week in Holland.

Saturday 29th August 2009

JWC 3RD 67+69+73=209 (-7)

It was very windy this afternoon, shot 73 to finish on 7 under which is now one behind Peter Hedblom.   I played pretty good but gave away two shots at the 15th and 16th, but overall I'm still very much in it for tomorrow.

JWC 2RD 67+69=136 (-8)

Shot 69 today to finish 8 under.   I played pretty much the same as yesterday.   It was windy early on with the course playing very long again.   My short game has been extremely good which makes all the  difference.

JWC 1RD 67 (-5)

It was another horrible day but I played really nicely to shoot 5under to lead by one.   I hit it solid pretty much all day.   The course is playing very long so it was a good effort today.

Wednesday 26th August 2009
I played at 12.50 in the pro am today and it pretty much rained all day which was hard going.   I played with three really good guys and we had a great laugh.   I struggled a bit today so I went to the range afterwards to hit a few.   I play tomorrow with Jose Maria Olazabal and Michael Campbell which should be good.
Tuesday 25th August 2009

I dropped the boys at school and then headed down to Gleneagles for this weeks Johnnie Walker Championship.   I spent the afternoon practising at the course,  they have a fantastic short game facility here.

KLM Open 4RD 66+68+69+71=274 (-6)

The toughest day of the week with the wind blowing from a different direction and quite strong.   I shot one over today but actually played alright.   My short game let me down over the weekend which is unusual.   My ball striking was good this week especially after four weeks off.   It's not going to take an awful lot to be up there challenging again, I feel pretty close.

KLM Open 3RD 66+68+69=203 (-7)

My ball striking was very good again today but for some reason my short game was really poor.   I should really have been 4 or 5 shots better today.   I shot 69 to be seven under overall.   I spent a wee while chipping and putting after my round.

KLM Open 2RD 66+68=134 (-6)

I drove the ball really well again and finished with a 68 to be 6 under total.   I had a lot of chances early on but I holed very little but I hit a lot of good putts.   I made two poor bogeys late on but overall I hit it really solid again.

KLM Open 1RD 66 (-4)

It was nice and calm this morning which certainly wasn't the case in the afternoon.   Very strong winds made it tricky, I played very nicely to shoot four under 66 which was a good effort in the conditions.   My foot was sore today but only when walking not swinging.

Wednesday 19th August 2009
I played in the morning shotgun pro am.   Like last year the course is in very good condition.   It was extremely hot today with little or no wind.   I hit it really nicely especially with the woods.   I went to the range afterwards to work on a drill Bob gave me......hitting balls with my feet together which gets my body more left through it.
Tuesday 18th August 2009

I played the back nine holes at Deeside this morning with Craig and David Law.   As usual David and I played for £5 and I managed to pip him....5 under to his 3 under.   He played beautifully and it was nice to hear all about his Scottish Amateur victory.   I then met Malcolm Panton from AFC for an interview on Red TV.   I flew to Amsterdam at 4.30pm for this week's KLM Open.   I have been working hard on my game so it will be interesting to see how I play this week.

Sunday 16th August 2009

I was at Newburgh today with Craig and Michael who were playing in the Junior Open.   It was pretty windy!   Craig shot nett 74 to finish 4th and Michael nett 81 to finish 3rd in their sections.   The course was in excellent condition.   Michael and I played a few holes at Deeside later.

Saturday 15th August 2009
Marian and I were at Pittodrie at lunchtime and wish we hadn't bothered.   I spent the rest of the afternoon hitting balls at home working on stuff Bob has given me.
Friday 14th August 2009
I was down seeing Bob Torrance on Wednesday morning.   We worked on my takeaway and body turn through the ball.   I then met Marian and the boys at Gleneagles where we stayed for two nights.   We played on the Queens course on Wednesday afternoon and then on the Centenary course on Thursday.   We had a great time, as always.
Tuesday 11th August 2009

I was at Deeside this morning receiving a cheque from Ian Jack and fellow committee members from AOGA for £25,000 for my Foundation.   A huge thank you, the money will be used very well.   I then headed out to Inchmarlo for the North East qualifier of my Junior Jug event.   Steven Smith from Deeside won the scratch and our Craig won the handicap section.   Unfortunately the weather was a bit wet but the course was in good condition.   My thanks to everyone at Inchmarlo especially Andrew Shinie for all their help.

Monday 10th August 2009

I was at Carnoustie today for a round with Andreas Nagel and his two guests, Adrian Blake and Neil Kline.   Andreas bought the round at the Aberdeen Oilmans's Golf Association dinner at Gleneagles with all proceeds going into my Foundation.  They managed to raise £25,000 for my Foundation which is absolutely awesome.   The guys were great fun to play with and the course was magnificient, as always.

Marian and I were down at Kinghorn Golf Club today opening their new clubhouse, I gave a 45 min clinic on the first tee and then went inside to pull the cord unveiling the plaque.   Our very good pal, Rab who we lived next door to in Kingswells and who now lives in Kinghorn invited us down.   My thanks to everyone for making Marian and I so welcome.

One of my Foundation team members, Philip McLean from Peterhead won the Leven Gold Medal today, it's a brilliant performance......especially shooting 63 in the final round.   I am really, really pleased for him and his parents.

Congratulations to Kinghorn Golf club

Congratulations philip

Saturday 8th August 2009

Marian, Michael and I were up in Hopeman today for a challenge match against the men's and junior champions as part of their centenary year.   It was a beautiful day with a lot of members walking round.   Michael and I won the match 2 up with a fantastic birdie from Michael on the 18th.   It was nice to play there again after so many years.   A huge thanks to everyone for looking after us so well.

Thursday 6th August 2009
I had a bit of a rest today because my foot has been really sore however I still hit 100 balls, played 9 holes and did two hours of short game.
Wednesday 5th August 2009

I was at Gleneagles this morning playing the Queen's course with one of my Foundation sponsors, Alan Reid and his two guests Bob and Niall.   It was very enjoyable and the course was in really good condition.

I drove to Largs to see Bob for the afternoon, we worked mainly on my takeaway.

Tuesday 4th August 2009
I was at Aboyne today to watch the boys and their cousin Sean play in the Junior Open.   Michael was nett 66, Craig nett 69 and Sean nett 72.   It was well run and the course was in fantastic condition.   Then we all went to Aspire to hit balls and Craig also had a lesson from Billy Fyfe.

Scottish Challenge 4RD 71+71+75+75=292 (+8)

Another very poor day shooting 75 +4, again I really struggled with ball striking, hitting lots of shots left.   The course this week was a good layout but far too firm making it very hard to get the ball close to the pin.
Saturday 1st August 2009

Scottish Challenge 3RD 71+71+75=217 (+4)

I had a terrible day on the greens today with five three putts.   I also struggled a bit with ball striking, finishing with 75 +4.   It was again really windy.   One of my Foundatiion team, David Law won the Scottish Amateur which is a fantastic achievement.   David is the first person to win the Scottish Boys and Scottish Amateur in the same year.   I am so pleased for him and his parents.
