China Open - 2

Flight home on Friday night was full so had to wait until Saturday evening to fly back. My flights were from Shanghai to Honk Kong then onto Heathrow and eventually up the road to Aberdeen. It was  good to get playing again this week and as Davy was saying there were a lot of positives to take from it even though the back 9 was disappointing.

My next event will be the Scottish PGA at Gleneagles which starts next Sunday. I haven't played it for a while but I'm really looking forward to it.  It'll be good to catch up with guys I played with years ago.

We have a media day on Tuesday for our Saltire Energy Paul Lawrie Matchplay at Murcar which is coming along nicely.

Volvo China Open

I arrived into China on Sunday night for this week's Volvo China Open at Tomson Golf Club in Shanghai.

Round 1  - It was quite breezy in the afternoon and the greens are very firm this week so 73 (+1) was a decent effort considering I haven't played much golf, four under is leading shows how tough it played and was very difficult to get it close but course in great shape.

Round 2 - Flat calm today so scoring was slightly better. I was out in level par but came back in 42 to miss the cut comfortably. I hit a poor wedge shot into 10 into the water to make double bogey then hit some poor shots, maybe rusty but who knows?  I had to see the doctor before I played as stomach was painful again so not ideal but no excuses. Flight home was full so a wait til Saturday night to fly home.

Massive thanks as always to Volvo who have been a magnificent supporter of European golf over. A very long period.

14 April

I had to pull out of this week's event in China as I got a chest infection while down in Dunbar watching Michael play at the Scottish Boys and the antibiotics I got have given me a slightly upset stomach which is nae ideal on a 12 hour flight!!!

I hit balls today pretty much for the first time in over a week as I also strained my back slightly (sick note). I hit it really good which is the frustrating bit as I was really looking forward to playing this week. I now fly to Shanghai  on Sat for next week's Volvo China Open

EuroPro Tour School - 10 April

Craig shot 67-73-68 to finish a very good T7 this week. He will now be fully exempt into all EuroPro events this year which is fantastic. It's been a very good week for the boys. Marian and I are very proud.

Scottish Boys - Friday

Michael was 2up after 10 holes this morning but lost 3&2 which he was disappointed with but knows it's been a really good week for him to reach last 8 which is the furthest he's been on his fourth attempt. He has one more year before he's too old which will be played at Murcar.

Scottish Boys - Day 4

Michael has made it to the quarter-finals with two wins today (Thursday) both coming at the 19th hole and two wins yesterday both by 1 hole which is fantastic. Both Marian and I are delighted but it's nae the best on the nerves, as you can imagine. Michael plays again tomorrow morning at 8.45am for a place in the sem-finals

Scottish Boys Round 1

Michael hit it nice and controlled the flight very well in a stiff breeze to win his match 6&4 , the course at Dunbar this week is in fantastic condition and a really good layout for matchplay golf

w/c 6 April - Scottish Boys

This week Marian and I are at Dunbar with Michael who is playing in the Scottish Boys. With Michael not starting till Tuesday, he played at Gullane no 1 today with Sam Locke , Michael Macdougall and my caddie Davy Kenny , I was going to play but I hurt my back a few days ago so I just walked round , it was ideal for myself and Davy to have a good look at the course which will Host the Scottish open in July , it was in very good condition indeed with some nice holes on it , Michael had his first hole in one at the 13th which was awesome to see , he plays at 11 30am tomorrow
